contacted me about 2 years ago and offered me a baseline stem from an Alpha Roots collaboration he was working on with Joerxworx. About 2 years ago, that is crazy! I, of course, said I would take the stem. I needed to finish some other songs that were in the works before getting to play with Alpha Roots’s baseline. By the time I was ready to connect with the vibe, Russia had invaded Ukraine, unfathomable tragedy had begun, and the world was changing again. My song writing reflected the horror of what was going on. By the time all the stems were gathered, vocals were recorded, and the song was mixed and mastered, another war had broken out and the horror continued. 

Massive thanks to Mountain Songs for  trusting me with these blessed Alpha Roots stems. So glad Jamie, Jonathan, Joerxworx, and Russ got a chance to work with Alpha Roots again. Alpha Roots lives on. 

And the song is ready just in time for Halloween!

Respect

Dear friends, how lovely they are, the girls in our world.
They may be our daughters or our wifes
and there are also those girls that we don’t know
but it doesn’t matter at all
we must show them all respect, no matter who they are

Dear friends, the women are exposed to evil during war
there may be soldiers who treat the girls so bad
and sometimes rape has been used by cruel men
as a weapon for scaring the folks
they must show girls all respect, no matter who they are

Dear friends, how lovely they are, the kids in our world
we must protect them against all evil that arise
they may not even be safe around their home 
there may be terrible men who are tempting them  
with dangerous pills and other stuff that harm the childrens brains

Dear friends some countries refuse education to girls
one might wonder who came up with these ideas
it is not fair since the girls are as bright as men
and it seems that the girls are oppressed
we must show them all respect, no matter gender they have
