A healthy dose of Australasian music, you say? For the uninitiated, Electric Wire Hustle are a Kiwi trio that tastefully hopscotch between hip hop, psychedelia and soul. They're two albums deep, with their self-titled LP (2010) and last year's Love Can Prevail already under their belts - both of which stand as CV-worthy, full-bodied dives into the land of off-kilter boom bap and Marvin Gaye-esque crooning.

With Spring 2015 on its way, EWH are preparing to drop the  Love Can Prevail Remix EP . Entries come from across time zones, with Osunlade,  Flako, Eliphino and Computer Jay  on the bill. Yet for us,  Seven Davis Jr.'s rejig of "Look Into The Sky" came up top trumps. Maybe it's the loosey-goosey, soulful house energy that first grabbed us. Or the vaguely Todd Edwards-tinged aftertaste it leaves in the mouth? Either way, it's honey for both the dancefloor late shift and Sunday lounge in equal measure. 

The  Love Can Prevail Remix EP is set to arrive in May to coincide  with their 9 date European tour later this month. Dates include stop-offs in Stockholm, Warsaw (RBMA event), Munich, Berlin and  a night at Oslo in London (April 18).

Now we welcome him back with this diverse and personal podcast, from lovely soul to funk and hiphop to shiny disco, with some beautiful gems from the past and versions of known tracks you never heard before! Zender is famous in Amsterdam not only because of his dj skills, but also for being the captain of the amazing "Costa Del Soul" festivals on Blijburg Beach and the "De Nachtspelen" and "Buitenspelen" throwdowns . Zender is also an amazing graphic designer and allround visual artist!

Jesse Boykins III is a Soul artist from Chicago, later relocating to Miami and finally Brooklyn . His first EP, Dopamine: My Life On My Back EP was released February 14, 2008 and his follow up The Beauty Created LP was released November 25, 2008 through NomaDic MuSic, a partnership between him and long time friend and New York Giants wide receiver Sinorice Moss.
Jesse’s career in music began at the age of 9 when he joined his school choir. He soon began auditioning around Miami and found himself recording with various local Miami artists. In High School Jesse was invited to perform in the Grammy Jazz Ensemble and recorded a full length album with them.
After high school Jesse was recruited to The New School University in New York City. At The New School Jesse perfected his skills as a writer, performer, arranger and producer and as a vocalist. He also studied with classical trainer Kamal Scott and Universal recording artist Bilal.

The great Steve Miller once said, "Time keeps on slipping, into the future." 

It's true, One instant we experience something, the next instant the experience is in the past. No matter how fresh and new an experience is to you at some time in your life, it will be old news.

Which got me thinking about music. Some music sounds futuristic. When we listen to a group like Daft Punk, it seems like we are listening to music from a world that doesn't exist yet, if it ever will exist. Our music today may sound like some of the futuristic music of the past. 

This mix is a selection of songs that I feel fall into that category. Old songs that sound up to date or futuristic. New songs that sound futuristic while at the same time sounding vintage. It's the type of look at music that would make a Doctor Who fan giddy. They would say something like timey-whimey or something like that.

This mix features new music from Daft Punk, and Robin Thicke. Classics from Roberta Flack, and Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye. There are some old school underground treats for those in the know and with keep ears. And there are some recent songs that probably haven't gotten the attention they deserve.
