Lots of heads down tunes this month, spanning dubstep, electro and more. September’s show is rooted in Compliments’ set from Field Maneuvers and unfurls across other thoughts I’ve been having, including: being delighted that my favourite season is almost upon us; a b2b I really enjoyed with MF Ceól (dropping soon via Mission 🙏🏾); and thoughts on sharing tracks. 

With the latter, in short, I wish we all just shared tracks more. Lots of gratitude to Daunder and Paniolo for being fellow recommendation senders. I had an especially entertaining back and forth with Paniolo a few days ago with lots of great tunes sent via WhatsApp. I talk about this on the show but in short - we should all be sending each other track recs more and even cute little mixtapes! I can’t take credit for mixtapes, Daunder put that in my mind, and I would so love for there to be more of that in the world. 30 mins of curated delight, just for you, just because - who wouldn’t love that? 

And I was right, Manao did lose his entire analogue studio to theft, which is awful. I wasn’t sure about this when I mentioned it on the show but I have since looked it up. Based on the description for the EP that X07 is from, I’m guessing it happened sometime in 2024 or 2023. Horror of horrors, but maybe also a misshapen kind of liberation? 

In collaborative news, I’m super excited to have done a little guest mix for my fellow Voices resident glosssd that will be out soon ✨.  I had a lot of fun with it - more briefs encouraging weirdness please! Thank you Noni-Mouse for insisting that I follow glosssd and listen to her show, I highly recommend you do the same. 

Another mention goes out to Beth who I met in the smoking area at NLDC, reminding me that the biggest joy in all of this is the people we meet along the way, and, crucially, that sometimes the music at a gig is not for you and that’s okay ➰
