Another beautiful song from writer and composer, Roger Hodgson, co-founder of Supertramp.  What a poet he is. 

Roger Hodgson’s latest release, Classics Live, is a spectacular collection of live performances from his solo, band and orchestra shows around the world recorded on his 2010 World Tour. Roger, co-founder of Supertramp, is the singer/songwriter of the band's greatest hits to include Dreamer, Give a Little Bit, Breakfast in America, The Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, Fool's Overture, It's Raining Again, Hide in Your Shell, and so very many more.

The songs Roger Hodgson sings that are often referred to as Supertramp songs are songs that Roger wrote and composed alone - that is how he creates music. He will often hear the musical composition first and then the lyrics come. Sometimes he will hear the whole song complete inside himself before he puts it down on paper and recording. Supertramp as a band never wrote and composed together, there were only two songwriters for the band. The songs Roger sings lead vocals on are the ones he composed the music and lyrics for, and the songs Rick sings lead vocals on are the ones that he wrote.

Throughout her life, and during the time of her disease, she often turned to your music to escape the pain and fear or hurt of what she was going through. I would sit back and watch as she would sing to Hide in Your Shell, Two of Us, Lord is it Mine, you name it. Her spirits were always immediately lifted and for those moments Roger I thank you. I thank you for bringing light and love and hope...and peace to her"


"When we were married in 1988, the song we chose for our first waltz as a married couple was "Two of Us" and we've danced to it alone in our living room on many occasions over the past 18 years.  Realizing it was not a typical "concert tune", we had no expectations that it was likely to be on your playlist.  You can imagine our feelings when you chose it as an encore.  I guarantee there was no one in the building last night that was more connected to your music than we were during that song.  Obviously it's a special song for us but it's even more meaningful now that we know it is special to you as well.

Classics Live Review -

For most of my life, I've loudly and proudly identified myself as a Supertramp fan. All these years later, I listen with awe to the altogether stunning new Classics Live album only to discover that I am, in fact, first and foremost, a major Roger Hodgson fan. His is the voice that spoke to me as a young man, and speaks to me even more powerfully all these years later. An utterly inspired collection of live performances of the best-loved songs that Roger Hodgson has written and sung to date, Classics Live reminds us in the most vivid way who brought the world such beloved rock standards as "Give A Little Bit," "Take The Long Way Home," "The Logical Song" and "Dreamer," and why these shining songs endure as deeply personal yet somehow universal expression of longing, love and our endless search for human connection.
