After many weeks of watching the genocide in Palestine, I decided to write a song about it. I want the bloodshed and oppression of the Palestinian people to stop.

I don't have a solution, although I think there is one out there. I'm not in a position to tell anybody how to solve it. But I do have an opinion on freedom. And I believe none of us can be free, unless all are free.

In this track, I pay homage to Murtaja's courage and determination. I tried to encapsulate the essence of his journey—a journey marked by dreams deferred, but never forgotten. Let his life serve as a poignant reminder of the injustices endured by the people of Palestine and a call to action for global solidarity.

The verses of "Evening Sun" paint a vivid picture of the tumultuous waves of grief. "The waist gets down in the middle, Someway I get drowned in the flood. My brain can’t answer this riddle, The pain is there in case I forgot." These words encapsulate the overwhelming nature of loss, where sorrow threatens to engulf us, leaving us grappling for understanding amidst the chaos. They serve as a poignant reminder that even in moments of confusion and despair, the pain of loss remains a constant, unwavering presence, ensuring that the memory of our loved ones never fades into oblivion.

In "Eat The Rich," I tackle the excesses of the one percent. Starting on my iPad, I weave together synths and beats to create a sonic landscape that mirrors the message. In a post-COVID society, where the gap between rich and poor only grows wider, the need for change has never been more pressing. In the lyrics, I question the disparities of wealth and power that plague our world, exacerbated by the pandemic's fallout. "Eat The Rich" serves as a call to arms, a declaration of defiance against a system that too often prioritizes profit over people.

Amidst the chill of a harsh winter, with the world gripped by the icy tension of conflict, there's a glimmer of warmth that shines through the frost. In "Santa Claus Is Here," join our protagonist as they find solace in the company of the jolly old man himself, Santa Claus. Working alongside the beloved figure of generosity and joy, they discover a respite from the cold realities of a world in turmoil.

As the protagonist navigates the bitter cold brought on by the war with Russia, the soaring gas prices force difficult choices, like cutting back on heating just to make ends meet. But amidst these struggles, there's a beacon of hope: Santa's unwavering presence and the spirit of giving that he embodies.

With every sleigh ride, every chimney descended, and every gift delivered, the magic of Christmas fills the air, thawing even the coldest of hearts. Through the power of compassion and connection, "Santa Claus Is Here" reminds us all that, no matter the circumstances, the warmth of the holiday season and the joy of giving can transcend even the harshest of winters.

With the amazing Folk Road Show, intimate and lovely Terence Roelofsen, and the always sweet Leendert Roosenbrand for his Aardbei movie.

Folk Road Show is an international group of singer-songwriters, who tour around the world, and sound like CSNY but younger, edgier, and with a trombone. Plus I have to assume they actually like each other!

Terence Roelofsen is an intimate and poetic singer-songwriter who writes in Dutch. He just started out, but he's already impressing people with his robust and adventurous songwriting.

Leendert is talking about his new movie project Aardbei, which you can still crowdfund. I hope to bring him on the show another time to talk more about songwriting for movies!

Songwriters Guild Live - Nov 30 with Folk Road Show, Terence Roelofsen, Leendert Roosenbrand

Aad Luymes (61) is a late bloomer with just his first solo album in his pocket. In daily life he is an editor at the press agency. As a journalist, he visited many countries, including Iraq and Afghanistan.

But also the musical adventure drew. Aad Luymes has been playing in the Zaanse band Trefik (for which he wrote the most songs) for ten years before he decided in early 2016 to record his own solo CD with his self written Dutch songs. He collected a number of musicians and went into the studio. The songs are recorded live. The result is the Dutch-language CD ''Geef Je Me Nog Een Kans?'' Twelve mostly melancholic songs of melancholy and longing, with the occasional banter in between. Some songs are reminiscent of gypsy music or the music of Django Reinhardt, while others sound more jazzy or Latin-like.

"When I saw The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show in February, 1964, my life changed from black & white to Technicolor, with a capital “T.” Three years later, I joined my first band, a kid bass player slinging Top 40 hits. By the time I switched to guitar four years after that, I had become well-versed in Top 40, soul (Stax & Atlantic Records, rather than Motown), rock & roll, rock, and The Blues. After graduating from high school, I left the southeast Chicago suburbs, moved to Texas, and started down the path to becoming a songwriter. It was never my intention to be a solo/singer-songwriter, however: I wanted to write songs, be in a good band, tour, and make records. I ended up becoming one because I couldn’t find musicians interested in doing original material, neither mine nor theirs. Seemed like everyone wanted to play the latest and greatest by the likes of Aerosmith and Lynyrd Skynyrd, but I’d already had my fill of being a juke box. A friend once told me, “Billy, sometimes you just have to say ‘later’ and shine it on.” So, I copped a walk. Moved to England, back to Texas, then to Seattle, to Indiana, back to Texas, and now I’m in the Arizona desert with my guitars, my harmonicas, the bass I bought last summer, and my dog Mister Boogie, aka “6.5 Pounds of Death & Destruction.” Have guitar, will travel. Anytime, anywhere. And always remember Rule Number 1: If you can walk, you can make the gig."

Imora Mariël (28) uit Enschede lanceert op zondag 24 maart van 14.30 tot 17.00 uur haar eerste EP in Metropool Enschede. De singer-songwriter heeft een EP met zes nummers gemaakt. De EP heet ‘A Loving Heart met haar eerste single ‘Morning in May’.
De Enschedese zingt en schrijft al tien jaar, maar bracht niet eerder een EP uit. Ze schrijft Engelstalige popliedjes die makkelijk in het gehoor liggen. ‘Ik val onder de rustigere singer-songwriters, met wat country-invloed. Ik begeleid mezelf op gitaar. Inspiratie haal ik vooral uit mijn liefdesleven en het dagelijkse leven. Zo gaat ‘Noah’ over een jongetje dat voor mij in de rij op het vliegveld in Londen stond’, aldus Imora Mariël.
De zangeres hoopt met dit album door te breken. ‘Ik krijg goede reacties op de nieuwe nummers. Voor de komende zomer staan er al meer optredens dan voorheen gepland. Ik heb heel veel zin in 24 maart en hoop op een volle zaal.’

Los Angeles-based artist and producer, Wil Key, is the genuine article! A triple-threat studio veteran who has produced, recorded and performed with some of the finest talent on the planet including members of Linkin Bridge (America’s Got Talent, Jimmy Fallon), R&B/Jazz singer Miki Howard, The Flobots (Universal Records) Def Jam recording artists Playa, whose subsequent debut album was produced by Timbaland and features Missy Elliot and the late Aaliyah among others. The Louisville, Kentucky native, who sings and plays several instruments, has also worked extensively with former JIVE recording artists L.A .Ganz, with whom he attended the High School of The Performing Arts as a Theater and Music major. The group recorded fifteen tracks for the label, four of which went on to be included on Major-Motion-Picture soundtracks including Booty Call, Phat Beach and The Long Kiss Good Night (Samuel L. Jackson). In addition to co-sequencing the LA Ganz song "Count On Me," which is featured on the soundtrack for the New Line Cinema release Dangerous Ground (Ice Cube), Wil also performs the piano solo. Wil is an alum of Howard University (Fine Arts) in Washington, D.C - home to several highly talented contemporaries including Chris Dave, Gorden Campbell, Sy Smith, Maritri Garrett, Marlon Wayans and Eric Roberson (to name a few). Somewhere between punk and blues – a porch and an alley – lies Radiator King, the performing/recording name of Boston native and Brooklyn based, Adam Silvestri. Established in 2011, Radiator King’s music shows influences from both Dylan and Strummer with a sound described by Boston blog Allston Pudding as something akin to what “Tom Waits locked in a room for a month with nothing but a copy of Springsteen’s Nebraska” might produce. Whether alone with a guitar or backed by a band, Radiator King embodies the raw energy of punk, the grit and intricacy of delta blues, and the lyrical potency of folk in “songs that are the sonic equivalent to an old whiskey bar at the end of a dirt road.”

In early 2019, Radiator King, the musician behind 2017’s A Hollow Triumph After All released his newest project — the Roll the Dice EP, via SoundEvolution records.

Ellen Tackenkamp begon haar muzikale carrière in de straten van Dublin, waar ze met lievelingsnummers van haar grote helden, zoals Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, en Bob Dylan, de regenachtige straten van Temple Bar van een zonnestraaltje voorzag.
