Exit Strategy

Meandering gently, subtle inter-weaved harmonies. Angel Grinder is the Mid point track in "Shriek" providing a calming contrast to the harsh, distorted sounds of the rest of the LP.

Its still early days, but i am planning on this being either track number 1 or 2 of my new upcoming LP (name still yet to be confirmed).

This track started off as a very positive and uplifting melody that i have had for a while. I decided to add it to a beat which i recently came up with (Drum, Bass and Rhythmic synths). It sounded pretty good when i started adding counter melodies. But then i wondered if i could litterally take the track and turn it on its head, and invert the whole mood and sound of it. I kept that same beat going and created probably my nastiest sounding stuff to date lol! So its a track of contrasts, i may play with the structure down the line, so not a final version just yet!

"I am become Death (The Destroyer of Worlds)" is my 3rd LP to date.

Inspired from the current Covid-19 pandemic. I think its fair to say the entire world has been forced to deal with the concept of their own mortality/that of their nearest and dearest over the past few months. Each of us has had to carefully consider our choices, not just for our own sake, but for the people we meet. A simple miscalculation could have dire consequences.. we literally have become "Death", potentially spreading disease as we go, still not 100% sure if being asymptomatic means we are as "clean" as we hope. 

The world is in a bleak place right now with disease, but also destruction (the riots and protests happening in the US and most countries being at a standstill since March...its almost impossible not to be concerned...

This album has been my vent through this process, a form of therapy. I hope that you get something from it too.

Now I Am Become Death I & II

Brand new track from the upcoming 2021 release "Beyond the Shadow". Following on from my 2020 release "I am Become Death (Destroyer of Worlds)". WHich was heavily inspired by the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has affected us as a population and ME as a person...reflecting how each of us has become very much "like, Death itself".

Beyond the Shadow, although still inspired by the Pandemic, is approaching the subject from a different angle...pulling inspiration from the more emotive side of things rather than the "Bluntly Bleak, Cold and Hopeless".

Drawing more inspiration from artists such as 65DaysOfStatic, Fuck Buttons along with the traditional Industrial groups and other Post- Rock/Electronic Rock bands which i grew up listening too and growing a large amount of inspiration from....

To date i have a tendency to write at least 1/2 tracks per LP that draw inspirations from 65DaysOfStatic/Nobuo Uematsu/Thom Yorke etc etc, i.e tracks that are rich, emotive & melancholic in terms of harmony & melody....contrasting with the more bluntly aggressive/noisy and bleak tracks on the LP.

I am still yet to decide excatly how the LP will end up sounding/be structured etc. But this new track marks a change in so much that there is quite obviously still the melodic/harmonic components that sound very RadioHead like. But this track is also inspired by the rhythmic side of things aswell, specifically 65DaysOfStatic/Fuck Buttons/Frog Pocket and other Post Rock/BreakBeat artists like Aphex Twin.

A Stitch In Time DEMO

After clearing out my social media accounts the other day, I ended up coming across an MP4 file I didn't recognize. Turns out that that particular file was a video version of my first attempt at a Cello Concerto lol. I'd created it whilst studying at the Conservatoire specifically to upload to YouTube for exposure. Thing is due to me loosing my portfolio of work after it was graded at the end of my degree, I no longer have copies of the vast majority of my Contemporary Classical pieces....so finding this is fantastic! It was written at the beginning of my Degree, so the music that I composed after this, personally I feel is much better lol.

But I thought you may like to listen to how I got started!

Becoming

For all new comers my name is Rohan and i operate under the name Meme-Brane. My music is easiest to categorize as Electronic, however i draw alot of influences from Industrial music, 80s PostPunk/Goth, Noise Rock with flairs of 65daysofstatic and some Lush harmony to boot.

After 6 years of silence MemeBrane is back, and back with avengence. 2019 has marked a huge change in stylistic direction for me aswell as unparalelled creative output. The first half of the year was dedicated to the writing of a new LP called "Shriek", fusing together a combination of Industrial music with more traditional analogue Electronica resulted in something that was both experimental and approachable, leading to some fantastic reviews courtesy of @FatherArtois and @Cau3e from Pastel Wasteland. After the glowing reviews of "Shriek" i was inspired to take that approachable style to its next logical direction and create another release that really explored how far that blend of styles could go, focusing more on melodies and complex rhythmic patterns "Gravitas" (for release early 2020) allowed me to try and add certain pop sensibilities into the formula. Creating a style that maintained that gritty edge that people really enjoyed from Shriek, but managed to appeal to an even wider audience with its use of EDM and NIN inspired material.
 
Looking forward into 2020, you have the "Gravitas" LP to look forward to in either late January/ early Feb. Then there is a yet to be confirmed collaborative/split LP with @SeisMoGraph which is sure to be an interesting release. Then more than likely a follow up release to "Gravitas" which will be moving back into more experimental territory, which some of you im sure can't wait to happen!

New LP "I am Become Death, The Destroyer of Worlds" due out Mid July 2020. Get ready. Its getting dark out...
