As an artist with already a lot of very successful material to his name, Rodriguez Jr.’s debut album Bittersweet is a highly anticipated release. There are in fact many reasons why people should hold their breath for it - an impressive 11 track body of work that features some of the well renowned and loved Rodriguez Jr. sonic traits, as well as a lot of new and previously unchartered musical ground. It simultaneously presents techno, atmospheric dub, hypnotic, melancholy and hands down hedonistic music, and with a focus on exploring textures and moods, there is something here for everyone to get lost in.

Rodriguez Jr., aka Oliver Mateu, was originally introduced to music through radio in the south of France, where he closely followed a selection of 80s bands, as well as forming a strong love for synthesizers. It wasn’t long before he was inspired to start his own group with partner Giles Escoffier ‘The Youngsters’, which quickly signed to Laurent Garnier’s F-Communications, taking them to some of the biggest clubs and festivals around the world. After great success, the project was put on hold and over the last five years Mateu has been given the space to focus more on his solo work and finally the opportunity to create an album.

In spite of his French origins, both Olivier Mateu's artist name and productions lean more towards his father's Spanish roots, with a Mediterranean warmth and party atmosphere often coming to the fore. Bittersweet, however, embodies influences from all over the world. Inspired during recent trips to Japan, Canada and Europe, the voyaging Rodriguez Jr. accompanied by his laptop lay down ideas in hotel rooms after playing in clubs and absorbed the different environments around him into his work. With each country creating a new experience, his touring has played a big part in the variety of tracks that are presented here.

Whilst the spice of Bittersweet was captivated in far away places, the main body of the production of the album was carried out in Mateu’s hidden away studio in Belgium, filled with many loved pieces of analogue gear and synthesizers. Ranging from the Roland TR909, for a classic house drum feel, to the Korg MS10 for dirtier sounds, and a selection of Roland keyboards to choose from, “I am definitely a synth fetishist! Ahaha!” (Rodriguez Jr.). Each has contributed in Rodriguez Jr.’s quest to create an artistic project of the highest quality and creativity that he is capable of, with outstanding results. He has also drawn on the creative input of two musicians who are featured in two of the tracks – And.Id playing his trumpet and Cari Golden’s vocals.

A masterpiece that truly reflects the Rodriguez Jr. of today, it also offers us enough variety and surprise to keep us inspired by this ever-evolving artist. Reflecting on the tracks Bittersweet refers to the contradictory forces at play within the music – it may be beautiful and it may be sweet – but be careful of the party animal it can unleash both in the creator and within all of you present on the dancefloor!

This track pretty much incorporates a combination of music styles that I've acquired growing up starting off by adding samples of my first love, heavy metal and then transitioning on to electronic music. I remember watching the Christian Woman video as a kid and being totally creeped out by it but at the same time curious and infatuated with the sounds and the girl lol not having any idea that my passion would eventually be djing and creating muzzikk.&#13;

This is not your typical music you hear now a days which makes it that much more unique to me. &#13;

With around a decade under his belt in the DJ / Production game, RolandøHödar has emerged as a well-known and respected DJ and techno producer from the Southwestern, United States. His style is versatile, but always delivers proper underground techno sounds, as his foundation and preferred tailored sound. 

Not only a DJ, but an accomplished Producer & Remixer, Rolando has released on many national and international labels, including Sleaze Records from the UK, Naked Lunch from Portugal, Unknown Territory, Nihil Young's label 'Frequenza', De-Konstrukt, Black Square Recordings, Reload Black, Funk’n Deep, to name a few. He has DJ'd all over the country at clubs like The Works in Detroit, Beta in Denver, The Electric Pickle in Miami to name a few and has also traveled to various parts of the world to DJ, ranging from his birthplace in Chile, to ADE last year in Amsterdam, and arguably his best moment to date, playing at the famous and world renowned club WOMB in Tokyo. 

Rolando was born in Valparaiso, Chile, South America, and lived the majority of his childhood and early adult life in New York, where most of his inspiration and roots are derived from, by being fortunate enough to witness world renowned DJ's such as Jonathan Peters, Danny Tenaglia, DJ Vibe, Victor Calderone and more play at famous clubs such as Sound Factory NYC, Crobar NYC, Cielo, etc, that inspired him to start DJing, to now producing dark and driving Techno music, which is a fusion of American Techno infused with a European style.  

Currently now he runs and operates his successful techno label AEROTEK RECORDINGS, which was founded in 2013, out of Scottsdale, AZ, as well as a label partner for the successful Dark Techno label De-Konstrukt, working close along sided Syed Raza (Subfractal) from NYC.

Aerotek Recordings, which has hosted some top underground talent such as Luis Flores, Axkan, Anthony Jimenez, Tunnel, Forest People, Andy Notalez, DKult and many more, has been used as a platform and a foundation for himself, as well as for his peers, that has gained notoriety throughout the globe. Rolando also co-hosts the popular Evolve after party in Detroit during Movement festival weekend, alongside labels Sub÷Divizion & Omen, at the famous ‘The Works’ venue, which has gained international notoriety, and has hosted amazing artists such as Neil Landstrumm, Orphx, Subfractal, Axkan, plus others. Rolando also owns and operates his 'Bang' brand, showcasing Techno in Arizona venues throughout. 

Rolando plans on pushing the envelope even further by releasing on bigger labels, and obtaining bigger artists for Aerotek Recordings, and running his event brand called Bang events in Arizona #AlwaysChooseTechno
