Roberto Rodriguez's dubbed out extended version has all the drive and punch of his original remix but is a touch more subtle keeping a leash on the vocals and letting the melody do the talking. Enjoy and thanks for all the support!

For nearly a decade, Tycho has been known as the musical alias of Scott Hansen, but with the release of Awake – his second LP for Ghostly International – the solo project has evolved into a three-piece band. Relating closer to post-rock than ambient soundscapes, the record is situated in the present, sounding more like Hansen than drawing from his influences. “This is, in many ways, the first true Tycho record.”

Following 2011’s Dive LP, the San Francisco-based designer toured extensively, and with a full band on stage, his sound coalesced into a percussive, organic whole. Zac Brown (guitars, bass) rejoined Scott on the road for this tour, but it was the particular addition of Rory O’Connor’s live drumming that ultimately sent Hansen back to the studio with a more precise vision. “After the tour, I decided that I wanted to capture the more energetic, driven sound of the live show on the next album,” Hansen recalls. Bringing musicians into Tycho’s creative process was a step towards expanding his own songwriting and advancing the project beyond its current sound.

In a cabin near Tahoe last winter, Zac and Scott began fleshing out the structure of the new record, but it wasn’t until they set up shop in the hills of Santa Cruz with Rory that it all fell into place. “It crystallized the vision of how the drums would come to the forefront on this record,” says Hansen. The sound was much more stripped-down and concise with more organic instruments in the fold. Songs like “Montana” and “Awake” are a departure from Tycho’s previous material – unique to the group effort poured into the songs on the new record – while “See” and “Dye” echo ideas from previous works, bridging a middle ground between the old and new. Working with Count Eldridge, who also engineered Dive, the team could fixate on the pulses that Tycho might previously layer under synthesizers and exhume them with distinct bass and guitar patterns.

Also known for his design work as ISO50, Hansen’s visual and sonic efforts have dovetailed throughout the course of his career. “This is the first time in my life I've dropped everything to focus on one artistic pursuit,” notes Hansen. Previous Tycho releases came to fruition when an amalgam of songs were nearing completion, but Awake is where music becomes the focus and true expression becomes the result.

Awake

Once again Vincenzo is entering the spotlight as he announces his third full length album on home label Dessous. Some 9 years after ‚Welcome To Zanarkand‘, his last long-player, the Berlin based producer has been making magic in the studio, crafting what is sure to be his greatest work yet.

‚Wherever I Lay My Head‘ is a glorious journey through 14 tracks of rich, spiritual and stunningly crafted electronic sounds. Vincenzo‘s cristal clear production and years of writing experience have culminated in this heroic new work. The album title reflects an aspect of Vincenzo‘s personality that makes the widely travelled producer feel comfortable in foreign places. He loves to travel, to meet new people, to experience new worlds and to absorb new inspirations, which is all incorporated into his music.

We drift through the sublime tones of ‚Hello‘ feat. Lisa Shaw, whose vocals also feature later with ‚Keep Moving‘. Lisa is based in Miami and came to Berlin for a week where she and Vincenzo laid down these two stunning tracks. A special note should also go to the album‘s second track, ‚Tasmania‘ which was produced on location in Hobart after a two day hike through the temperate hills.

The album is a free flowing trip into completely entwirling musical zones. The mighty ‚The Clearing‘, which has already proved its power on dancefloors and sun decks everywhere, sets the tone from here on in. Inspired by many, diverse music styles, Vincenzo set out to make an album that was less aimed at the dancefloor -  a more timeless sound full of positivity and prosperity, ideal for home-listening.



Glistening electro beats pierce through with the funky vocoded ‚Calimero‘... Working with Brazilian artist Diogo Accioly of Talking Props, the pair cooked up ‚Seduction‘, which glides over us like a cool mountain breeze. Old school moments are re-visited in ‚Weights &amp; Measures‘, and Vincenzo explores deeper into his US house roots with tracks like ‚106 Downtown‘, ‚Where You Are‘ or the amazing slow-grind of ‚Sleepless‘. 
The classic vibes draw to a beautiful conclusion with ‚Sometimes Saturday‘, a euphoric and harmonic breaks jam that really sums up the togetherness of the album. Through heartfelt melodic moments, vintage percussion and a heavy helping of musical skills, ‚Wherever I Lay My Head‘ is a pure and honest reflection on an exciting time in music, produced by one of its figureheads.

To say the arrival of the Swedish trio 'Monitor 66' onto the scene has been explosive would be a pretty big understatement. House of Disco Records is proud to have taken them under their proverbial wing for the labels first single release, the swede's ethereal anthem 'Triscuits'. This track made huge waves when first shown to the world gaining strong support from 'The Magician' and a whole host of others at the top of their game. 

The track itself floats somewhere between the dance floor and the cumulous clouds above, lulling you to sleep while at the same time invigorating you. Grounded by a vocal sample from an old Keith Sweat track 'Triscuits' glides on a bed of warm synths and vocal stabs that will haunt your memory and a breakdown that reminds you of the timeless nature of just plain old good music. House of Disco Records have recruited some serious talent to re-interpret and remix this one. Previous housemate Roberto Rodriguez, future housemate Dead Rose Music Company and just plain good mates PBR Steetgang.

Vincenzo certainly needs no introduction as one of the Dessous and Poker Flat camp's central artists. Now he's gearing up to release his next full-length album in 2011, the first single to be featured is the breathtaking 'The Clearing'.

Beautifully warm and overflowing with atmosphere, this anthemic modern ode to introspective moments on the dancefloor swirls and builds with incredible depth and clarity. Like opening the door to a secret garden full of wonders, this powerful moment of positivity sends unifying waves through clubland. The equally special Dub version works the groove further with a straighter edge and an even later night theme emerges through the blissed out wash of chords and subtle harmonies.

Veteran producer Ian Pooley is enjoying a comeback of late with his classic soulful house sound once again brought back to the floors. His stunning remix pays tribute to all the power and emotion of the original, while cutting up some old-school flavours and laying down that classic Pooley key-led funk.
