Recently I had a debate with someone about the term "liquid". He feels it's become an outdated term to describe what's basically become 75% of all DNB music produced today, and in a way he's right. I've long stopped worrying whether "liquid" actually describes what I play in these sessions. Instead I use the term loosely, mostly to set some sort of expectation of what you'll be hearing from me. In all practicality, I like to play across the board. It's deep, it's soulful, it's techy at times, it's dark minimal at others. It's abstract, it's jazzy, it's rolling, it's dancefloor, it's peak time stuff, it's afterhours stuff. Mainly I want it all to make sense in relation to each other. I'm less concerned about what to exactly call it. It's like that famous saying "House is a feeling"... Maybe "Liquid" is also a feeling and not just a specific sound? To be continued...
