And with that, The Oxford Dictionary of Music, has easily summed up the
wide selection of music found on David Lanz and Kristin Amarie's latest
masterwork, AYRES.
Herein you will find, intimate vocal and solo piano performances along side
sweeping orchestral arrangements in support of vocals, choir and several
instrumentals centered around the piano and cello.
Award-winnning soprano, Kristin Amarie, and Grammy Nominated pianist,
David Lanz, are beautifully supported by Emmy winning arranger and
composer, Kurt Bestor, conducting The Utah Film Orchestra.
Danish classical guitarist, Lars Hannibal and American Game Of Thrones
cellist, Cameron Stone, are among those who offer their masterful musical
gifts in enhancement of these works.
Bach's classic Air on the G string, is reborn within an engaging Amarie vocal
in this contemporary orchestral rendition. AIR features very special quest,
original Procol Harum organist and composer of A WHITER SHADE OF
PALE, Matthew Fisher.
PADRE NOSTRO (The Lord's Prayer), and GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO, two
ancient prayers are performed here in Italian. Of note, the UK's premiere
singing group, Apollo Five, join Kristin Amarie and American tenor, Dallyn Vail
Bayles, and together they elevate GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO, in heavenly
fashion. A third prayer from AYRES, the classic, AVE MARIE, is performed in
it’s classic Latin text, supported by Libera's English boy star treble, Luca
Brugnoli. All three hymns retain their original texts, but have been
recomposed by Lanz and Amarie and cast in new musical settings.
AYRES also features newly composed vocal and instrumental music, written
and arranged for piano, cello, classical guitar and orchestra. All are given a
modern Classical Crossover treatment. In particular, DEMAIN DES L'AUBES
(Tomorrow at Dawn). A hauntingly beautiful piece, composed around Victor
Hugo's poem about the tragic death of his daughter, Léopoldine. Sung in
French by Kristin and supported with piano and chamber orchestra.
Over the last decade, Kristin Amarie and David Lanz, have forged a musical
union that is truly inspired. Performing, composing and producing in
collaborative and solo recordings, this musical power couple has amassed an
impressive body of work.
And now with AYRES, their latest collaboration, they are once again hitting
new heights! Here is a rich and beautifully conceived album. An album who's
spirit invites the listener to immerse themselves in a very personal and soul
soothing musical experience.

Akt der 1929 uraufgeführten Operette 'Das Land des Lächelns' von Franz Lehár,  gesungen vom Südtiroler Tenor  Roman Pichler  bei der Benefizgala der Accademia Belcanto mit Teresa Berganza und Giacomo Aragall am 09.09.2016 im Planetensaal des Schlosses Eggenberg. Am Klavier begleitet von Svetlana Sokolova.
