LISTEN ON HEADPHONES TO  HEAR BINAURAL EFFECT

This piece begins with a 7Hz binaural beat, the frequency of theta brainwaves that is associated with daydream states. It is joined by rising, pulsing, organic synths and deep pads that modulate unpredictably with the binaural beat. You are quickly drawn into a dreamlike place where order and chaos coexist in constant flux. The movement of the sounds all around you, coming towards you and moving back again embeds you deep into the centre of this experience. The constant interplay of individual sounds and rhythms creates a river of visual-inducing music in which you float.

Let your mind drift: And observe your imaginings.

There is a tension, a melancholy, a seriousness. Maybe even a threat? The wave hurtles upwards to form a peak. And then there is the crash. A release, an exhilaration, playfulness. Things feel safe again. Maybe even triumphant?

Over and over.

Until you gently re-emerge from your daydreams and remember you are relaxing under a tree in an ancient woodland.

You come back to yourself.

But where, might I ask, were you when you were away from yourself?

Julie Bartley is a music producer and sound engineer who works with musicians and other practitioners to produce high quality recordings and audio content. Julie loves to facilitate the process of turning creative ideas into tangible audio products. Julie, based in Northumberland, has been running her business - Rolling Audio - for over ten years. She has worked with a diverse range of clients producing music and audio for multi-media projects and also delivering workshops. Julie writes and produces her own compositions. Inspired by being in the all-female collective, Beccy Owen and The Refuge, Julie seeks to support and empower female/female identifying artists locally. Julie recently joined Cupola Studio Collective and shares a high spec recording studio.
