I figured I'd upload some old demos so there's some content up here while we work on recording our first album.

This one's an instrumental, recorded in 2012, I believe. We don't play it live yet, but hopefully we will eventually. I figure Erika will ultimately end up playing that main melodic line on violin, with guitars hitting rhythm and that little countermelody (or whatever it's called). Who knows? We'll see.

Learn From Your Mistakes (Demo)

I figured I'd upload some old demos so there's some content up here while we work on recording our first album.

This one's from 2011 - it's a song Kris and I wrote for Brandon before he deployed.  It turns out we had both been independently writing songs for him; when I asked Kris about it, he showed me what he had so far... and it happened to fit pretty perfectly with what I'd been writing on my own, so we combined and finished the song and gave it to Brandon during his 'last hurrah' before leaving.

Five years later, Brandon's back home and we're still making music in this band.

Look To The Sky (Demo)

An acoustic cover of "When We're Together," the first song on Samiam's album "Whatever's Got You Down."  I read somewhere that the album was written as the singer's relationship was falling apart, so that's kind of the running theme... which is pretty sad, but as a result, the songs are really raw and honest.

It seems the band didn't end up liking the way the album was originally mixed (and I can admit, it's a little low-end-heavy and unpolished), so they re-mixed and re-released it a few years ago.  But somehow the original mix, however "non-techincally-well-produced" it was, is the one that just feels RIGHT to me, even though it's a little intense.  Somehow it was good enough to get me playing the album on repeat for a few weeks, and then at some point I was struck by the need to record a cover of this song, just very kinda spur-of-the-moment.

Anyway, yeah, good song, good album.  If you dig this version - or the original - look us up on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/rollthehardsixband) - our music tends to touch on both bases across different songs.
