Formed in Glasgow 2019 out of a mutual love of Acid House. The band is made up of Djs Nick Stewart, Matt McCue and blues singer Chris Wilson.

The band formed when Nick asked Matt to play a live set at a club and Matt said the only way he would do it was if they formed a band. 6 weeks later they played live (slightly terrified) with the do it yourself Punk attitude.

The song was written about my ex-girlfriend. My soulmate and twin flame. We are still in love with each other but can't be together however much we want to be. 

It's about the pain of being separated from someone you are completely in love with. Hoping that the pain of separation will pass someday.
It's melancholic and euphoric. Using just a Roland CR - 68 drum machine, 2 synths and a 303. The acid line coming in at the end signifies 'hope' the feelings of loss will pass and get better.

FAKE PHONECALL

Fake Phonecall is about abandoning the use of modern devices for genuine human interactions on the dance floor.

It says goodbye to the selfie and social media ; asking human beings to reconnect in the moment through acid house music.

More cowbell than is probably needed and answer machine messages in French and Spanish recorded into mobile phones and sent to us.

Hell Yeah heads to Brazil and the cultured sounds of Pedro Bertho for a hot new 12" that features Mariana Gehring and remixes from Romain FX and My Friend Dario. Now based in France, party promoter Pedro Bertho’s music is a melting pot of sound that draws on his own personal heritage and a life spent digging for records. Afro rhythms, Italo melodies, rolling reggae, deep house and plenty more all get mixed up into something totally new. With releases on Cracki Records, Pedro Bertho’s music is a constant innovation designed to bring surging euphoria to dance floors.
On the opener, Pedro collaborates with Mariana Gehring, a São Paulo-based singer and composer influenced by new MPB and other signature Brazilian sounds like forro, maracatu and samba. 'Tornei' is a mix of full bass and sensuous vocals. Fizzing synths, percussion and FX bring the energy while Gehring arrives in the breakdowns to bring the spine-tingling soul. Romain FX is a scene mainstay, label head at Fauve, Boiler Room veteran and has released on Kalahari Oyster Cult and many more. His version is a retro workout with lush cosmic melodies and slinky grown-up grooves sure to get that club floor full. 'Éléphants au 5eme' is a busy mix of analogue drums and hits, wild trumpets and fleshy synths that bring that unusual tropical heat. The same track is remixed by label regular and new school Balearic boss My Friend Dario. He plays with the vocals, layers in shimmering chords and keeps things dubby to make for another of his signature get down grooves. Digital bonuses include a fat-bottomed dub of 'Tornei' and pumping new-age house cut 'Chez Botallico' with its woodwind leads and steamy synth sounds

Eclectic electronic duo Red Axes have today announced their new studio album One More City, due for release on October 27 via fabric’s new flagship label, fabric Originals. Celebrated for their boundary-pushing approach to electronic music and their willingness to experiment with different sounds, Red Axes have marked the announcement with the release of rollicking lead single and video ‘Kid Caffeine’ Ft. Clams (lead vocalist of post-punk band, Warmduscher). Speaking on the track’s narrative, Red Axes explain: “It’s a story that follows the twist in the life of the man who chases his own tail from city to city hoping to find the essence of life which is fame. We had the honour to work with the wonderful creature Clams, who wrote and sang this song.” 

Comprised of Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi, Tel Aviv based Red Axes are informed by post-punk, new wave, and a plethora of club sounds old and new. Throughout their career they have cleaved a singular path with their hefty discography and eclectic taste. As a duo, they are the perfect exemplars of how self-belief and achievement feed into one another. They've played in bands together from their Tel Aviv schooldays, and were always driven by a sense that they were going to be great - but this wasn't arrogance, rather it was a fierce drive to live up to their own expectations. Over many years, that drive led them to dig deep into first rock'n'roll, then club music, releasing dozens of records with some of the most beloved labels around the world. The duo have a deep understanding of the connection between post punk and dance via their beloved Factory records, and in the 2000s the same dots were being joined by the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Optimo, Erol Alkan and the late Andrew Weatherall. Now hooked up with London's legendary fabric, they've come full circle bringing all of that together in the glories of their forthcoming album One More City. 

Albums have always been crucial to Red Axes's progress. As their work spread through the club / DJ world and their own DJ commitments sent put them in front of a wide range of different crowds, spending time in the studio every three years or so has been a way of retaining their focus and reconnecting with the fact that, however electronic their music might get, they are still a band at heart. And that's never been more true than now. They felt Israel's club scene has struggled to recover its sense of community post Covid lockdowns, and more widely the rise of "business techno" has prioritised a formulaic aesthetic over the sense of belonging they first felt in clubs. 

Which explains One More City. Made and mixed at home in Israel, it's a return to the rootedness of picking up instruments and jamming together. "When you're older," says Dori, "it's harder to regain that certainty you had in your youth. But when we hold a guitar or a bass, that's when we get back to that safe place, that's when we get our confidence again." And it absolutely shows: this is a record crackling with energy, mischief, pleasure and an understanding of how all the parts of the band's history fit together. Goth, new wave, techno, disco, minimalism - and, as Niv says, "this cheesy, glammy side too, we can't escape that!" 

It's a record overflowing with talent and distinctive voices, from Tel Aviv electropop / hi NRG maverick Autarkic to British/Turkish rapper / poet Janset, from Clams of London post-punk weirdos Warmduscher to Cole Alexander of Atlanta psyche rockers Black Lips. But for all that it's the tightest, most coherent, most truly Red Axes album yet. It feels like a single band, and as they rehearse and do their first festival shows, it's only going to get more that way.

A little bit about the release:

Gourmandisque launches its first release « GMD 001 » composed by Doublure co-founder of the collective. Released date will be the 8th of May 2020.

With these 4 impetuous tracks, the EP revisits the universe of italo disco and dance music of the 80’s and 90’s, wavering between mythical synth sounds and powerful basslines.

1. Jerky Steps (Original Mix):
Oscillating between deep house and italo disco, Jerky Steps is made up of guitar riffs punctuated by bridges of aerial solos as well as synths arpeggios. Its composition mixes a dynamic acid bass with lustrous vocals, offering a techno and ascensional resonance.

2. Distorded Wheel (Original Mix):
At the border between italo disco and indie dance, Distorded Wheel is characterized by a recurring and dynamic rhythm. Its sharp synths and its circular melody recalls the motricity of a groove born from multiple frenetic percussions.

3. Vertical Way (Original Mix):
By mixing italo disco and new wave, Vertical Way is a breath of fresh air that lifts us towards the heavens by aerial and scintillating pads as well as a soft and progressive melody. Its synths overlays and graded basses produce a contemporary and harmonious dynamic.

4. Immersive Bush (Original Mix):
Between deep house and tech house, Immersive Bush is an immediate dive in a wild and breathless atmosphere. Its punchy and modular bass offers an intense immersion in the mysterious world of the living.
