Futureboogie Recordings is calling time after ten years with a 20-track compilation that sums up the sound of the lovingly curated Bristol label. From throbbing arps and noirish guitar twangs to errant analogue blips and ceaseless, rolling grooves, it’s a different sound to what you might have heard five years back on the Summer Riot IV compilation, and certainly a long way from the early days. Consider Futureboogie 10² an ode to evolution as much as a toast to all the great tracks and the family of artists that have passed through the wide-reaching Futureboogie sphere since before the label was even a sparkle in the disco ball.
 
Originally founded by Dave Harvey and Steve Nickolls, the roots of Futureboogie lie in an intimate Bristol party called Seen. Started in 2002, this open-hearted session invited the likes of Metro Area, Attica Blues, Carl Craig, Maurice Fulton, Moodymann and Gilles Peterson – based on that heavyweight list, you can see the foundations were laid for what was to come. Futureboogie evolved off the back of these parties as a many-limbed operation – an artist management and booking agency as much as a club night, with Harvey and Nickolls consolidating the sound as DJs around Bristol and beyond. The progression to a record label was a logical one.
 
When Futureboogie Recordings launched in 2011 with Julio Bashmore and Javeon McCarthy’s ‘Father Father’, it represented an extended circle of friends close to the label from Bristol’s deep pool of talent and beyond – amongst them Eats Everything, Waifs & Strays, PBR Streetgang, Behling & Simpson and Crazy P. The reach of the label grew in tandem with its reputation, not to mention the endeavours of the team in other areas of the music game. The Boogiefuturo label became a vital entity on its own terms, carrying a lauded DJ Nature remix of Typesun which encapsulates two distinct generations of Bristolian house music at its best. DJ Nature, who cut his teeth as DJ Milo in the Wild Bunch days, has gone on to become a regular feature on Futureboogie, helping define its soulful, adventurous spirit.

That is how we can qualify the way Dorian adopts his music or lets himself be adopted. An authentic musician far distanced from mainstream medias to find his own voice, his own touch, and always willing to surpass his own accomplishments. If we had to summarise his music, we would “only” have to say that it takes us by the gut and soothe our mind until we’re somewhere else, perhaps in outer space.

After multiple releases, Netpune went into exile with his music for a while to get the best out of it. Today, he comes back and presents an all-new opus that will surely take your breath away.

This logbook is divided in three portions like stars of a constellation he followed to come back home. The journey was not made alone since he was accompanied by the lovely voice of the English singer Clara La San. Some will be blown away and others will travel with Neptune, but the EP guarantees an unearthly experience.

Multiplex returns this November with ‘Obey The Night’, a split EP between Orlando Voorn and Luca Lozano which each artist remixing the other’s track on the package. Danish imprint Multiplex has been releasing material from many esteemed artists in Techno for many years, with the back catalogue featuring projects from the likes of Dan Curtin, John Tejada and Mark Broom to name a few. Here we see the imprint welcome the return of Dutch R&S artist Orlando Voorn, who released on the label under his Ultra guise back in 2002 and most recently with ‘Planet Ultra - The Lost Tracks’ earlier this year, here he shares the release with Klasse Wrecks founder Luca Lozano.

@opalsunn's return to Nick Höppner's Touch From A Distance is sort of a recap of 2019 - a year that proved pretty incredible for the duo of Alex Kassian and Oba Hiroaki. Their live show took them quite literally all over the world including Tokyo, Valencia, Ho-Chi-Minh-City, Hanoi, Fusion Festival, England's beloved Field Maneuvers and last but not least: Panorama Bar in Berlin, where they performed twice in 2019  as part of the Touch From A Distance labelnights.
Their „Laika EP“ has been largely inspired by their first Panaroma-Bar-performance in january last year, which they - unassuming, yet assertive - took by storm. Eight months later their show in the Laika tent at the UK's best kept festival secret Field Maneuvers marked a second highlight in Opal Sunn's calendar. As a tribute, Opal Sunn have called the opening track to this record „Laika“.
Their second ep for Touch From A Distance is picking things up, where their debut left off, meaning Opal Sunn's sound design is as pristine as a mountain spring and their arrangements are as tight and effective as ever. Having played numerous gigs in the meantime, there seems to be a new focus, though. All four tracks feel much more centered and balanced, aiming quite effortlessly at  a heaving dancefloor.
„Laika“, the ep's lead track, sees Opal Sunn at their most effective and peak time. A long build up and a rolling 303 bassline make for a total sureshot of a track.
On „Minority State“, the duo let's their Electro inclinations run free, fusing razor sharp beats with icy melodies and abstract sound effects.
On the b-side, „Holy Mountain“ is essential Opal Sunn: Glistening arpeggios, gliding melodies and floating beats create a psychedelic atmosphere predestined to lose yourself in.
The ep ends with „Tangerine Blues“, an equally atmospheric and trance-y  track embedded in a rather broken beat, going for a more cinematic vibe.

It were as if he was upside down, looking dizzily back at the world in a new way which made little sense and that he didn't understand. The sky was not above but down below and waters were hanging thick where it might have been. The ground upon which he walked was wobbly and uneven, yet there was something quite freeing and ethereal in the reversal. Things began to make sense that hadn't necessarily before, ideas and consciousness flowed with an elegant ease and he began to see things differently. Perhaps those hanging waters were a welcome omen after all. 

Ben & Dylan are a duo from Portland with a bright future, their new EP for waterworks channels elements of house but is underpinned with the melodic elegance and precision associated with producers and musicians with great experience. It's promising, hopeful stuff..

-	Shell-shocked by a compilation of Chicago House that his elder brother gave him, music pupil Roman from Darmstadt became interested in electronic music.
-	Visits to Sven Väth’s Omen in Frankfurt and nights spent with Underground Resistance or Warp turned his whole world upside down. LFO’s bass still massages his stomach region to this very day.
-	The first demo tape is given to Jörn Elling Wuttke, who is thrilled and leaves his others bands to join forces in a project with Roman.
-	Together they pay a visit to Ata and Heiko MSO. The latter work as DJs and sellers in Frankfurt’s Delirium and can hardly believe their ears. They are delighted to set their A&amp;R activities (Ongaku, Klang) in motion.
-	For Holy Garage “Surprise”, which also appeared on Eye Q, they found the Playhouse label, later to become the flagship of the label triumvirate and one of the most influential labels in Germany.
-	Time flies in the nineties with working on the label and the success of the projects Alter Ego and Sensorama. Roman also does solo projects under the name Soylent Green, Eight Miles High, Ro 70, Roman IV and his real name. The spectrum ranges from nosebleed techno to delicate ambient and electro-pop tunes.
-	Sven Väth asks Alter Ego to be his producer.
-	Remixes for Daft Punk, Radio Slave, Primal Scream, Ricardo Villalobos, The Human League, Spektrum, Tiefschwarz, Baby Ford, Chicks On Speed, and many others.
-	Alter Ego beats all the records with “Rocker” and Roman provides a worthy successor with “Geht’s Noch!?”.
-	Live appearances all over the world and Roman becomes increasingly popular as a DJ. His sets comprise 20 years of rave in one breath of techno, house, Italo-disco and obscurities. It goes by the name of acid house.
