Une invitation à parcourir l’Altiplano Potosino, région désertique du Mexique au-dessus de San Luis Potosi, à 400 km au nord de Mexico. Sur ces hauts plateaux à 2000 mètres, le désert est loin d’être vide. On entend les habitants des villages et des hameaux, les bergers avec leurs troupeaux de chèvres ou de moutons. On part à dos d’âne ou en calèche pour aller charruer les champs. Entre cactus et arbustes, des vaches cherchent quelques brins d’herbes. De retour au village, on se retrouve tous à l’église et à la fête locale. Les coyotes chantent en écho au train qui traverse l’immensité de ce “désert” mexicain peuplé de vies et de sons.

Bochra, Samlé et Renata ont quitté la Tunisie, la Côte d’Ivoire ou le Brésil pour émigrer en France. L’une est réfugiée politique, l’autre est issu d'un mariage mixte, la troisième est passionnée de langue française. Qu’est-ce qui a fait qu’ils ont un jour voulu quitter la France ? Quels rêves et quels espoirs entrevoyaient-ils au Canada et particulièrement au Québec ?

Ils et elles ont quitté leur pays pour la France avant de choisir de s’installer au Canada. Ils et elles nous racontent la France, son accueil, ses opportunités, mais aussi ses blocages. Après leur expérience française ils ont finalement atterri à Montréal, Ottawa ou Vancouver, où Halima Elkhatabi les a rencontrés. Après la Route du Bled, Halima Elkhatabi tisse avec finesse onze récits qui racontent un double exil avec émotion et lucidité. La route de l'Eldorado (1/5) : À la recherche de la terre promise

Après une enfance miséreuse mais pas malheureuse dans la Marseille de l’après-guerre, Daniel Nieto devient un as du hold-up et finit sous les verrous. En 1976, il profite d’une permission pour s’enfuir en Italie. Il gravit les échelons du crime aux côtés du Jacques Mesrine local. Puis embrasse la carrière de kidnappeur.

Rome. Fin des années 1970. Daniel Nieto, un braqueur marseillais, est en cavale dans l’Italie des années de plomb où le rapt est une véritable industrie. Il devient kidnappeur et enlève la fille d’un riche industriel du cinéma. Une relation contre-nature se noue entre l’otage et son geôlier. Elle sera fatale à ce dernier.
