The Wanderer's Tales

Be prepared for an arduous journey through the vast, deserted fields of a post-apocalyptic world. Facing not only the problems of survival, a battle hast to be fought against an unknown force that came to claim these lands. "For the wasteland!".

Drawing the image of a victorious moment after a battle or even the emotions of a reunion that was hard-fought for a long time, this one focuses on the orchestral side of "epic" music and only uses a subtle amount of tension building "hybrid" FX. Reunited

I'm really excited to give you a little insight in one of the projects I'm working on since some time now. The "Theme for the Hell Dolls" is one of over ten pieces I'm composing as the soundtrack for the upcoming original Stop-Motion Anime series "Shrapnel". It was and is a pleasure to work with it’s creator, Moon from Moonshine Animations, since I’m really impressed by his great creativity and all the ideas he had developed for the series.
The overall setting is really dark, with touches of melancholy and little glimpses of hope in some of the characters. 
This particular track presents the four main characters, the so called „Hell Dolls“, who seem to be ruthless hunters or killers. By that, the main mood of the track should be „sinister“. But I also wanted to present a touch of melancholy or sadness because of how those beings were created and to display a certain antagonism.

I’m really looking forward to presenting more of the score to you, soon :).

Short description of the main plot of „Shrapnel“:
Hundreds of years have passed since the the cataclysm that crippled humanity. The world is a hellish place teeming with psychotic robots, bloodthirsty creatures, and terrifying entities spawned from the suffering of mankind. Shrapnel is a post-apocalyptic slice of life that follows the  day-to-day happenings of those that face the cruel realities of the world, and live on.

Theme For The Hell Dolls (Shrapnel Series OST)

A dark little piece with a suspenseful overall feel. This is nothing "epic", nor does it contain orchestral elements. I just wanted to experiment and write a compact, but effective piece that could accompany with scenes of tension, like exploring the gritty sewers of an old town. It combines a quite simple piano part with modern, electronic sounds and a synth beat. Check out this quite different side of a score.

Inspired by playing Skyrim again since some weeks after it's re-release on PS4, I sat down and composed a little piece for the wonderful town of "Whiterun" that's a central point in the game. It lies wonderfully embedded beneath mountains and tundra and really has that special vibe that makes the whole game a unique experience. If you don't know it or haven't played it: doesn't matter :). Just enjoy the track and the picture of this wonderful landscape.

A dramatic, yet emotional, cinematic track that could be used for "epic" movie trailers, TV spots, video game trailers or similar. The big climax also features a powerful female vocal line, intensifying the uplifting character of the piece's ending.

Mixing hybrid synth and orchestral elements, this piece has an interesting modern spin while also keeping an eye on the orchestral arrangements to evoke an emotional spin on the listener's side.

"Following Dawn" can be seen as the theme for a big, cinematic adventure settled on the open sea or on an unexplored island. The calm beginning sets the mood of laying near the beach, planning the upcoming trip to an island, while the track then takes up speed and energy and leads into an epic theme for the powerful adventurer.

The track should take the direction of a traditional, cinematic score for games/movies like Prince Of Persia, while keeping the focus on the beautifully captured, traditional instruments from "Ancient Era". Hey everyone, it's been a long time since my last upload. This track was uploaded to YouTube at the end of July, but I forgot to update Soundcloud as well. I'm currently writing my Master thesis and am having a quiet busy time at work, so I was forced to have little break from composing. It was getting a bit too much having five or six projects outside of the field of music with their own deadlines simultaneously and that doesn't support creativity.
I got back to my workstation for making music again a week ago to see how it feels. Well, it was fantastic! So I decided to do something rather unusual for me and tried a little cover of one of my all-time game soundtrack favorites - the OST of the SNES game "Terranigma"! I chose "Dark Side Field" because I really can dive deep into the emotional, yet suspenseful feel of this overworld theme and didn't want to edit the whole piece too much, because I think it really is perfect as it is. But I tried to give it my own little personal touch, so I'm really excited to hear what you think! Maybe, if you like it, I can try to work on another track from that game ;).

The score of Terranigma was originally composed by Miyoko Kobayashi, Masanori Hikichi.

Finally! It feels like years ago that I finished a new, original track, although the current stressful time only started some months ago. I'm still in the middle of writing my Master thesis and having what feels like a pile of other work to do that has nothing to do with music. But I just grabbed some free time in the last two weeks and forced myself to write music again. Well, this is what came out! Please enjoy "Descending Menace". Starting as a quite dark film score, it ends with a triumphant, epic theme that could easily be used in a heroic movie trailer. Have fun and let me know what you think!

It's time for something new again :D. Today I'd like to show you a brand new piece I wrote that could be placed in a dystopian setting, where a small group of people start to rise up against a dark threat.
"No One Leaves" features heavy strings, a kind of heavy percussion beat and some electronic elements. Looking forward to your feedback of course!

This new track was written while combining both a cozy winter's afternoon mood with some mountain wanderlust. I remembered some scenes during my wife's and my trip to canada in 2016 (one of the pictures I took is now the background of this track) and worked on the piece. It's also the first one I wrote using a new library: Albion V Tundra (so suitable!) by Spitfire Audio. Please enjoy!

Well, where shall I start... first of all, sorry to all of you who were waiting for new music or any updates in the last months and many thanks for your wonderful messages and comments. I had some really busy and stressful months in the past and, for the first time, I was forced to take a step back from making music in the extent I was able to in 2017 or 2016. To cut a long story short: being abstinent from composing didn't do me well ;). Thats why I'm really happy to finally upload some new music for you and I really hope that I will be able to return to make new tunes on a more regular base!
Today I'd like to present a track to you that really fits to the mood and feelings described above. Something like a new start or a new chance, emotional, yet motivating. Let me know what you think!

Time for a new track! I spent quite some hours on it and it has been a blast. This one's called "Requiem Of Souls" and delivers a really dramatic and heroic theme that could be used as a main theme for a video game for example. 
Quick note regarding the background of this piece: in one of their recent episodes, the wonderful guys of Auf ein Bier - Der Gamespodcast (all-time favorite podcast of course) covered "Dota Auto Chess", a custom mod for the famous MOBA Dota 2 (that I've never played yet). I was quite skeptical but tried it out just for fun - and got hooked. Dota's art design, sound and the overall dynamic of Auto Chess really caught my interest. After some rounds, I sat down at my desk and started with a single piano track, working out the main theme you'll hear in this new piece. When I heard the final form for the first time I felt: "this could be a theme for Dota Auto Chess". So that's why I called it like that ;). Now please have fun with "Requiem Of Souls"!

Imagine a mixture between an epic orchestral score, cyberpunk-ish synth wave elements and hybrid trailer music - that's how this piece could be described. "Never Seen A Miracle" began to take form after watching Blade Runner 2049 some weeks ago for the first time (yep, I'm late!). Some elements of the score and the whole mood somehow made me start working on that piece and this is what came out. Really excited to hear what you think, so have fun!

Never Seen A Miracle

Alright, the story to THIS track is quite different from my works around the Terranigma OST (check out my YouTube channel for these). Unfortunately, I never played Actraiser as a child, although I had heard about the title some times in the past. When I finally set up my SNES again two or three months ago just for fun and to experience some nostalgia, I somehow felt the urge to buy some games of my childhood again. When I was a teenager, I sold most of them so I now had to buy everything again.
I also decided to check eBay & co. for games that I knew as I child, but never managed to buy or play back then. Actraiser was one of them.
And - oh my - that one got me hooked. I especially fell in love with the game's beautiful soundtrack and when I played the first stage - Fillmore - I knew I had to cover this very soon. So: here's the result! That one was a lot of work but it was so much fun to make it work for a full orchestra.
