Roman the Cartoon’s new track Kill Ur Father is a schizophrenic scatter-blast of gooey melodic riffs and sexually evocative lyrical surreality strung together to titillating effect. Roman is making music with his whole body in a manner which feels at one moment lazy and at the next mildly profound. While Roman caters primarily to a fan base nested within high-level circles of the scientific community, his efforts to counter-balance the academic nature of his work with primal energetics continues to be rewarded with wholehearted approval from the streets. In regard to Kill Ur Father’s title Roman claims to be referencing violent cultural shifts signifying the severing of ties with ancestral wisdom, but many have already accused him of issuing a direct call to action in an attempt to spark war between children and their parents. The truth is, as always, anyone’s guess. What we do know for certain is that Roman the Cartoon has once again delivered a sonic experimentation which succeeds at both satisfying the rabidly foaming mouth of the streets and moving science forward across a wide variety of fields such as neuroscience and bioengineering.
