Litty and It's Alright makes for the pandemic-era return of Skevious Tips, the Toronto multi-genre songster best known for collaborations with Chicago rap-duo The Palmer Squares. The lovesick new single streams everywhere starting Feb. 12, 2021, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Sonically it’s a catchy R&B ear-worm with soulful undertones that becomes an exhibit in technical hip-hop by the arrival of the second verse. Content-wise, the song serves as a drunken letter written to a distant love interest. Longing not to drink, Skevious writes lyrics which allow the listener to interpret the subject either as a human being, or as whatever their addiction is itself, personified. Alcohol can seem like a suitable replacement for human connection, the writer poses, while denouncing and then celebrating his alcoholism with a romanticism common to creatives and non-creatives alike. Having been sober for upwards of five months at the time of this writing, “My only hope in this release is that people will hear this song and feel less alone as they navigate the realms of love and alcohol, as the crossroads where the two intersect can be treacherous” says Skevious Tips.
