REDEMPTION AND SECOND PAS DE DEUx FROM THE LEGEND OF SNOW WHITE

The 2nd act begins with the house lights down.  The Prelude begins with a steady throb of notes at a walking speed, very soft.   The stage is black until you see a flames being applied to a torch followed by six more torches.   They are held by the 7 little men who are surrounding a clear sarcophagus in which the beautiful Snow White lies in slumber.  The music reaches its climax as the little men reach their places.   Next scene is the appearance of a grand Prince who has been led to this place by the enchanted bluebirds.  His kiss revives the girl and they dance the first of the pas de deux.  Travel music brings our party to the Prince's Castle where a great celebration is taking place.  After the children perform their dance the music is interrupted by the entrance of the evil stepmother who is now in chains.  Snow White begs the Prince for her stepmother's forgiveness which he grants.  The Prince and Snow White dance the 2nd pas de deux which softens the queen's heart.  The couple have her blessing at which time the finale begins.

The music I compose is always obbligato.  In other words, I do not create by writing chords, but rather I compose by creating melodies that when performed together create a fabric of rich colors and logic.  This Overture displays a few of the numbers that occur during the ballet it self that are knitted together with transitions that use material from the initial theme.  Mozart referred to this as the"Thread" that runs through the entire work.

Snow White has been abandoned in the deepest part of the forest.  After running in a panic she finally collapses into a sleep.  This scene The Bluebirds awaken her in the morning and guide her to the safety of a very tiny but homey cottage.

The Dwarves (Little men in the Grim version) spend their day mining diamonds that they hoard.  The 2nd section is the music for their march back to their cottage (Pictured).

I am a 67 year old composer and music teacher with studios at Harmonies Music, Inc. and Woodward Academy, both located in the Atlanta, Ga. area.  I've been composing since the age of fourteen and have taught piano lessons for three decades.  With my wife, I own and operate a small music school called Harmonies Music, Inc.  We have 12 teachers on staff, all of whom have their masters degree.  I received my formal training in composition at Fullerton College in Fullerton, California.  I studied counterpoint and form with Brent Pierce.  At 14 I began teaching myself how to play the french horn and piano.  I also taught myself how to read music by learning a great many of J.S.Bach's Preludes and Fugues.  Orchestration I learned by transcribing a great many orchestra scores to piano.  I have over 150 opus numbers in my catalog and compose in a variety of styles.
