Black dress is a song I wrote the lyrics for back in 2023 after losing my Dad. 
It's about how even after the funeral and the initial few months following his death, that pain of losing him still feels as fresh as it did when I was sat in his funeral.
With other lyrics I wrote a few years ago, I found I change a few lyrics when my feelings about the situation have changed. But revisiting those lyrics 2 years later and putting music to those feelings, it felt right keeping the lyrics the same. Because even 2 and a half years after his death, that feeling I felt is still there.
And this song is all about that, how a part of me will always be that freshly turned 18 year old sitting in her black dress, front row to the funeral of her best friend and the most important person in her life.
With his birthday being the 21st of December (the day I'm uploading this) - it felt the right day to release my acoustic demo of this song.
