I Can Feel Your Love

As a fresh Canadian artist, Ronnell makes his debut into the music industry with his first song, “I Can Feel Your Love”.



Ronnell grew up immersed in music. With his father playing the guitar for their local church and with weekly piano lessons, music was evident in Ronnell’s early microsystem. During his formative years, he and his siblings would play-pretend dance and sing songs from various girl groups and musical divas which constantly exposed him to the talented female artists of the late 90’s/early 2000’s. Thus, a lifelong appreciation of the art of visually appealing music videos and catchy songs created by these pop stars was instilled in him from a young age. Specifically, Ronnell cites Beyoncé as his main source ​​of inspiration and credits her as the main reason he decided to pursue music. He attributes his main sound as heavily influenced by Beyoncé's potent and diverse musical catalogue. Moreover, Ronnell joined his highschool choir which further cultivated his love for music, which eventually led to him pursuing a music degree at the University of British Columbia. Despite classical music being his primary focus of studies during his time at UBC, Ronnell’s main interest remained with pop music. 



Describing “I Can Feel Your Love” as being a song that was “never meant to be taken seriously”, Ronnell implies that this song’s purpose is to induce joy and happiness with no serious message underlying the lyrics or melody. He states that “[his] intention for this song was very clear: that this was something for the girls, and something for the gays.” With a catchy melody paired with lustful lyrics, “I Can Feel Your Love” details the experience of a “booty call” occuring at the ungodly hour. Ronnell explicitly states that “creating this song allowed [him] to enter a sort of fantasy situation that begins at 2:30am.”
