Honeysuckle Rose was composed by Thomas “Fats” Waller (music) with lyrics by Andy Razaf. Written in 1928 and introduced in the 1929 Off-Broadway revue Load of Coal at Connie’s Inn in Harlem, it went on to become one of Waller & Razaf’s most enduring collaborations. 

Waller’s own 1934 recording became definitive for many listeners and was later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, cementing the tune’s place in jazz history.
