You're A Melody #1

Space Ghost has been hard at it for over a decade. The Oakland-based producer and DJ, real name Sudi Wachspress, also shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.

Favouring the long player format, he's already got over 10 albums under his belt compared to a handful of EPs, and has struck up a fruitful relationship with Tartelet Records, the home of several of his musings, as well as reputed imprints like PPU and Apron.

His latest album, Private Paradise, is a tribute to Sea Ranch on the Northern California coast, a place he and his partner spent some time secluded from the outside world. A collection of deep, restorative ambient, downtempo and house, it marks his debut on DJ D.Dee's Pacific Rhythm imprint, a perfect home for Space Ghost's breezy productions.

Just like his own output, his mixes are full of tranquil atmospheres, lush pads and gentle drums, which are the sounds that form the basis of his mix for us today. Perfect for long drives, sun-soaked early morning or, as Space Ghost recommends, in a hot tub or somewhere with a nice view, this hour and a half of music is guaranteed to whisk you away to another plain...

Space Ghost: The 'Shine A Light On' Mix

We're back with our second installation of our mix series with a very special contribution by In Sheeps Clothing very own, Phil Cho @pheelcho . Known for being the event programmer and editor in chief at ISC, Phil has been organizing amazing parties under "Third Place" with his friends in LA.  He also records monthly episodes out of a shed in Echo Park with DJ's Daniel T & Russell Alexander for their show "Tuff Shed" on NTS- highlighting warm, fun and cheeky dub, reggae, and dancehall music along with anything that falls in between. We were able to get a few words with Phil to learn about his influences, his role at In Sheeps Clothing, and the parties he's organized with his friends.

We're delighted to share this mix so hit the road, roll down the windows, take in the breeze and enjoy an hour of summer tunes.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Motown, the iconic record label launched in 1959 in Detroit, Michigan by Berry Gordy Jr., Carhartt WIP will release a thirteen-piece capsule collection in the coming weeks. The collaboration honors a label that reshaped the sound of American pop music, diversifying its airwaves in the process. 

To mark the collection launch, we reached out to Detroit native Kenny Dixon Jr. aka Moodymann and asked him to prepare a strictly Motown music Carhartt WIP Radio show, that displays his personal love for the label.
 
As Moodymann is not man for hasty reactions, he delivered a detailed mix featuring rare b-sides, interviews and live recordings by Motown artists like Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Steve Wonder, Kem and Dazz Band. Asked about his very own feelings towards his mix, Kenny Dixon Jr. simply says: “No matter where I‘m standing it’s good to hear home sometimes. These songs are woven into the soundtrack of my own personal movie.”  There is nothing more to add, only: enjoy the ride!

French touch innovator, weirdo-house prophet, the man who brought us the über-classic “Deep Burnt”: Meet the one and only Pépé Bradock. Very few house producers are held in the sky-high esteem as Julien Auger. For Roof.fm, Monsieur Bradock recorded a rare and truly special mix. In person, he turned out to be a gentle French eccentric. So, a bit like his music is the man himself? Only fitting then that we did an unconventional interview with him. We asked Pépé to verbally improvise to this mix, which is really a selection of personal favourites. Read and listen closely, you might learn a thing or two about the grand riddler Pépé Bradock.
