Room 4 Resistance radio returns on Quântica with a special guest mix from the absolute legend DJ Minx.

Minx's career is as long and storied as that of the music she plays from her hometown. Not only is she an incredible DJ, radio host, producer and label owner, she's been elevating women for decades - she started her label, Women on Wax, in 1996 (!!!). It is a great honor to have her on the show !

The first hour of the show is as per usual in the hands of our residents Luz & Doc Sleep.

Room 4 Resistance 04 W/ DJ Minx (Rádio Quântica live show 26.04.2018)

San Francisco’s experimental / dance music scene has many freaks. The Creatrix is one of them. She packs out sex parties at the local leather bar and plays to her friends on a Monday night. She has DJ’d NY, Shanghai, Japan and remains committed to the underground. 

The Creatrix is 1/3 of T.V.O.D. with Nihar Bhatt and Jason Polastri, their new passion project to bring the world’s techno mutants to the bay area. She is equal parts selectress, producer, sound artist, community activist and fan girl on the dance floor. 

The Creatrix is the guest of Room 4 Resistance for their 19th episode on Radio Quântica with an excerpt of an opening set for Via App on March 16th at Counterpulse in San Francisco.

Luz hosts and opens the first hour (which sadly ended up being 30 min due to technical issues) with a short excerpt of their set at Bristol's Dialogue 2nd anniversary party in May 2019.

Piano Rain (Alexandrea Maria Archuleta) is a sound artist, producer, DJ and quilter born of Colorado soil, currently flourishing under the San Francisco Sun and Moon. With a background in technical theater she weaves together sounds and textures, as a healing medium, into a garden of memory, connecting the past through the present and into the future.  Her soundworks, like her quilt works, hold the intention of transmitting the nurturing warmth of human touch and memory activation, delivering messages beyond space to withstand the test of time.

As half of Cleveland party Heaven is in You, Miah Benton (adab) puts heavy emphasis on translating the unifying elements between us through djing. Characterized often by their palette of sounds, they made a niche for themselves in Cleveland, Ohio spinning a variety of sounds and venues alike. Having started djing dance music, primarily, as a result of finding Cleveland's queer techno party In Training and being a non binary black youth raised across a few states in the Rustbelt, adab seeks to unabashedly present refreshing perspectives and dialogues for both themself and others.

Club Music artist luz (they/them) is a neuroqueer DJ, promoter, curator, radio-host, and community organizer. Co-founder of Berlin-based queer collective Room 4 Resistance, they’re also a member of Ecology of Care and Unsound Festival’s Mutual Respect team.

Their practice of nightlife is anchored in queer feminist spaces, grassroots organizing, community care, harm reduction and experimentation. As a DJ, their ever-evolving sound is at the crossroads of different Club Music styles and influences: UK, bass, breaks, experimental, polyrhythmic, leftfield, D’n’B, House, deep techno, Detroit electro, and more. They enjoy building narratives across genres and eras that resonate with their present moods and feelings. Their favorite dancefloors are intimate, healing, sweaty, filled with queer joy, cute weirdos and misfits from all paths of life.   

Over the years, luz has performed at countless international venues and festivals, highlights include Panorama Bar and Tresor (Berlin), De School (Amsterdam), Et Andet Sted (Copenhagen), Hot Mass (Pittsburgh), Movement’s Industry Brunch (Detroit), La Station Gare Des Mines (Paris), C12 (Brussels), 5 Miles (London) as well as Festivals such as Nyege Nyege (Jinja, Uganda), Unsound (Krakow), CTM (Berlin) and Horst (Brussels).
