For the 5th episode of Room 4 Resistance on Rádio Quântica, we host a guest mix from one of our fav artist and human out there: Violet.

Violet  is  a  Portuguese  producer  and  DJ  based  in  London,  co-founder  of  Rádio  Quântica and  half  of  all-girl  rap  crew  A.M.O.R.  Since  debuting  via  Wicked  Bass  Records,  Violet's  music  managed  to  grab  the  attention  of  key  figures  of  the  scene.  Artists  such  as  Snuff  Crew,  Terry  Farley,  Matias  Aguayo  and  Phillip  Sherburne  have  played  her  tracks  in  some  of  the  finest  clubs  worldwide.  Part  of  Portuguese  rave  crew  One  Eyed  Jacks'  DNA,  where  Violet  has  released  two  EPs,  she's  in  the  Berlin-bred  label  Snuff  Trax  roster  and  was  also  invited  by  Matias  Aguayo  to  participate  in  a  cover  versions  project  for his  acclaimed  “The  Visitor”  album,  released  on  Cómeme.  In 2014,  her  cover  version  of  Underground  Resistance's  classic  "Transition",  with  an  all-girl  squad  of  vocal  collaborations,  caught  the  attention  of  the  Underground  Resistance  crew  themselves  as  well as  Ben  Sims,  Pitchfork,  Fact  Magazine  and  NPR.  
Later  in  2015,  Versace  used  it  for  their  SS16  collection  and  commissioned  her  to  do  a  new  piece  for  the  Haute  Couture  collection  of  the  same  season.  Those  pieces  were  acclaimed  by  press  outlets  like  Vogue,  Dazed,  The  New  York  Times  and  personalities  like  Alexander  Wang  and  Donatella  Versace  herself  who  deemed  Violet  her  new  music  diva  on  The  Sunday  Times.  In  2016  she  once  again  recruited  some  of  the  freshest  talent  around  to  join  her  in  an  all-girl  squad  and  cover  Mike  Dunn's  Chicago  house  classic  'So  Let  It  Be  House'  to  celebrate  International  Women's  Day  – with  all  proceeds  from  downloads  being  donated  to  Equality  Now,  an  NGO  that  works  for  gender  equality  around  the  globe.  This  version  caught  the  attention  of  Mike  Dunn  himself,  and  so  far  got  support  and  donations  from  artists  like  Optimo,  Luke  Solomon,  Dan  Beaumont,  Mike  Servito,  Terry  Farley,  Hannah  Holland  and  more.  Violet's  DJ  sets  and  hybrid  live  acts  create  journeys  that  embrace  classic  house  as  well as abrasive  techno,  mutant  jack  beats  and  her  own  melodic,  percussive  productions.

Violet is also Naive's funder and label boss.

The R4R radio show is back with our 7th episode on Rádio Quântica with special guest Club Fitness.

R4R residents Luz and Doc Sleep are on for the first hour with a selection of their current favs.

They invited Toronto's fast-rising DJ Club Fitness to join for the second hour of the show !

Club Fitness shifts through house, electro and techno with ease. Having played alongside the likes of Shanti Celeste, Josey Rebelle and Beautiful Swimmers -- Club Fitness has been taking crowds with dynamic and twisted journeys on the dance floor and through her emotive high-energy mixes.

Room 4 Resistance Radio is back on the Quântica airwaves for episode 8 of the R4R show with a special guest mix from Sybil Jason !

Sybil Jason is a Haitian-American DJ, producer & photographer from New York City. Since 2004 she has been involved in the underground music scene of NYC, most notably as a DJ. In 2006 she set up a music blog named FARCED, which has survived through the years as an mp3 blog and is home to her various mixes & podcasts. 2017/2018 was a game changer for Sybil: she played steady dates across the US & Europe while keeping dancefloors on their toes with her signature non-conforming sets. Guest mixes for shows on Rinse.fm, NTS, Radar London along with THE FADER and Truants mixes have cemented her unique DJ style: an eclectic & boundless fusion of many different electronic genres fueled by her electric energy & the unapologetic dichotomy of old/new + cold/warm (with a focus on techno and house all the while returning to the music of her Haitian heritage).

Room 4 Resistance 09 W/ Deena Abdelwahed - Rádio Quântica (13.09.2018)

Room 4 Resistance Radio is back on the Quântica airwaves for episode 10 with a special guest mix from Cómeme affiliated artist Borusiade !

Born and raised in Bucharest, Romania and now residing in Berlin, Borusiade aka Miruna Boruzescu started dj-ing in 2002 as one of the only womxn DJs in the city’s emerging alternative clubbing scene.
Influenced by a classical musical education and fascinated by raw electronic sounds Borusiade combined these elements in the construction of her DJ sets and starting 2005 also in her music production. Her sets combine bold and obscure sounds and fluid genres fluctuating in the field of Dark Disco, Minimal Wave, raw House with an Acid touch.The sound is gloomy and powerful, with beats that touch one’s deepest senses.

After experimenting with different projects, Borusiade slowly crystallised a sound of her own, often dark, with poignant bass lines, obsessive themes and by all means melodic.
After her successful debut EP “Jeopardy” on Cómeme in 2016, “Feelings Of Entropy” came out the same year on Jennifer Cardini’s label Correspondant.

2017 Borusiade released a split EP on Veronica Vassica’s acclaimed label Cititrax, carving her way into a more industrial sound and proving the complexity of her production.
Her discography counts tracks and remixes on labels like Dark Entries, Monika Enterprise, Relish and Romanian label P-Balans.

Monthly, Borusiade shares her broad musical universe in the radio show The Dreamcatcher on Radio Cómeme.

The R4R radio show is back with it's 11th episode broadcast on Rádio Quântica with special guest rrao (The Bunker, New York). The show was recorded live in Neukölln (Berlin) on November 8th, 2018.

R4R residents Luz and Doc Sleep hosts the first hour with a selection of their current favs.

They invited New York's rising DJ and producer rrao to join for the second hour of the show !

Known primarily for working soundboards at New York's biggest clubs and most elusive underground boîtes, rrao has cut through emerging as a multi-dimensional artist. Their debut single “Anita”, a track rich with stereoscopic drones, driving tablas, and immersive found sounds, appeared on the 15 Years of The Bunker compilation. You can catch them out performing live sets and often spinning alongside their labelmates from The Bunker New York at Brooklyn's most beloved spots

Room 4 Resistance's monthly appointment is back for a brand new year on Rádio Quântica !

The 13rd episode features a guest mix by Discwoman affiliated artist Akua with some slow jams played in the first hour by R4R residents Luz and Doc Sleep !

Akua (pronounced “ah-kwee-yah”) is a Ghanaian-American DJ raised in Los Angeles, currently based in Brooklyn. Akua quickly developed a following for her confrontational, high-octane style of DJing. She finds inspiration in the roots of North American techno with a particular focus on the harder, more direct and freakish strains of ’90s Midwest and New York rave music. Akua’s DJing is an exercise in controlled chaos, traversing from wonky acid techno, to frenetic and funky hardcore, to hypnotic and sublime trance and beyond. Through DJing, Akua aims to helps others connect to their inner narratives and find clarity by harnessing their personal power and channeling it into the power of dance.

Gayphextwin is the live dancing music of San Francisco based tall girl Patience Keller, or sometimes Brooke Keller. Patience has released 3 albums with Jacktone Records (as gayphextwin and odi me), as well as Perfect Location and self-released on Bandcamp.

Room 4 Resistance 14 W/ gayphextwin - Rádio Quântica (31.01.2019)

R4R's 15th show features a guest mix by DJ Voices with slow jams and heavy bangers on the first hour by our residents Luz and Doc Sleep !

Brooklyn based DJ Voices aka Kristin Malossi is a founding member of the Working Women collective and was head booker at Sisters BKLYN for 4 years before moving on to the same role at Nowadays in Ridgewood. Growing up in South Florida Voices avidly collected music, then moved to NYC in 2011, discovered raves and club music, and quickly fell in love. A dance floor enthusiast first, she transitioned to the other side of the decks in 2015 and rose rapidly through the NYC underground with mixes featured in Fact, Pitchfork and Resident Advisor. DJ Voices has held down a biweekly show with Unscented DJ on The Lot Radio since its inception, and recently made her European debut with Working Women in Summer 2018 and a solo tour Winter 2019. Catch her in the city at her Level Party or Jupiter Disco residencies, or with Working Women at Nowadays once a month.

Room 4 Resistance 15 W/ DJ Voices - Rádio Quântica (28.02.2019)

Hosted by Luz, the 16th' R4R show features a guest mix by Multimedia artist, producer and DJ FANA.

Currently based in the Midwest US, their music and DJ sets are heavily influenced by their upbringing in New York City as well as their Southwest Asian/North African heritage. They recently released their debut EP - Ancestor Syndrome - through Detroit's Crisis Urbana. 

In the first hour of the show, you'll hear an excerpt of a live recording by DJ Male Tears opening the ambient and experimental floor at the last R4R on March 16th at Trauma Bar und Kino in Berlin.

Fana takes over the second hour with an absolutely banging mix.

Hiro Kone is a New York based musician and producer: she uses a combination of hardware, synths, and modular to cultivate her sound - a visceral meditation on rhythm, noise, and melody. No stranger to manipulating macabre disorientations into enchanting new shapes, her music exposes the unsettling and sublime. Her cascades of twisted field recordings find an inherent partner in the effervescent current of synthesis and forge new terrains that respond to the precariousness of humanity. She often shares stages with her close collaborant Drew McDowall (Coil) or Puce Mary. Affiliated with DAIS Records and BANK Records NYC. She's currently mixing the new material with Kris Lapke (Alberich / Hospital Productions). This summer she will be busy with artist residences at Pioneer Works in New York and the prestigious EMS studios in Stockholm.

Room 4 Resistance 18 W/ Hiro Kone - Rádio Quântica (23.05.2019)

San Francisco’s experimental / dance music scene has many freaks. The Creatrix is one of them. She packs out sex parties at the local leather bar and plays to her friends on a Monday night. She has DJ’d NY, Shanghai, Japan and remains committed to the underground. 

The Creatrix is 1/3 of T.V.O.D. with Nihar Bhatt and Jason Polastri, their new passion project to bring the world’s techno mutants to the bay area. She is equal parts selectress, producer, sound artist, community activist and fan girl on the dance floor. 

The Creatrix is the guest of Room 4 Resistance for their 19th episode on Radio Quântica with an excerpt of an opening set for Via App on March 16th at Counterpulse in San Francisco.

Luz hosts and opens the first hour (which sadly ended up being 30 min due to technical issues) with a short excerpt of their set at Bristol's Dialogue 2nd anniversary party in May 2019.

Piano Rain (Alexandrea Maria Archuleta) is a sound artist, producer, DJ and quilter born of Colorado soil, currently flourishing under the San Francisco Sun and Moon. With a background in technical theater she weaves together sounds and textures, as a healing medium, into a garden of memory, connecting the past through the present and into the future.  Her soundworks, like her quilt works, hold the intention of transmitting the nurturing warmth of human touch and memory activation, delivering messages beyond space to withstand the test of time.

Room 4 Resistance 25 W/ Makimakkuk - Rádio Quântica (05.12.2019)

The show is hosted by R4R resident @docsleep with a special guest mix from @adab in the second hour.

As half of Cleveland party Heaven is in You, Miah Benton (adab) puts heavy emphasis on translating the unifying elements between us through djing. Characterized often by their palette of sounds, they made a niche for themselves in Cleveland, Ohio spinning a variety of sounds and venues alike. Having started djing dance music, primarily, as a result of finding Cleveland's queer techno party In Training and being a non binary black youth raised across a few states in the Rustbelt, adab seeks to unabashedly present refreshing perspectives and dialogues for both themself and others.

CLUB CHAI  is a label, event series, radio show and curatorial project founded by 8ULENTINA and FOOZOOL in Oakland, California. CLUB CHAI centers diasporic artists with the intention of carving out sounds and spaces that consider the ways we build narratives as a reflection of our current and future selves. We believe in the transformative abilities of storytelling through sound and honoring its creation of genres and movements for marginalised people throughout the history of electronic music. Through our label releases and projects we hope to contribute to this archive and history.

Being born to a first generation father from Vietnam and growing up in America can be confusing regarding where I stand with myself. Only knowing what it means to be American, Im curious to find out more about my South East Asian roots so Ive decided to dedicate this mix from Asian producers and artists. To be able to hear the sounds of my asian brothers and sisters, I am inspired to expose and show appreciation to those who have come before me.
