Manchester based DJ/producer Antagonist cues up a collection of dense and uncompromising electronic tracks on his R&S Records debut. The ‘Rites’ EP pulls together 5 new tracks that lean on the artist’s drum ‘n’ bass roots and influences, a sound that has informed his DJ sets and studio productions since he launched the project in 2004..

Layers upon layers of shadowy ambience and wistful tones are punctured by hard edged beat-science, as Antagonist goes in deep on the complex breakbeats, chopping back and forth knifelike loops and dynamic kicks. A highly accomplished debut for the R&S label from this sonically exciting young producer.

어릴 적부터 다양한 음악을 디깅하는 취미를 갖고 있던 그는 연극영화과를 전공하였지만 댄스플로워를 휘두르는 DJ의 매력에 빠져 전공을 그만두고 2013년 서울 Club Answer에서 첫 디제이 데뷔를 시작해 지금까지 다양한 커리어를 쌓아왔다. 그는 본인이 좋아하는 전자음악 LP들을 모으며 팬데믹 이후 새로운 방식으로 디제잉에 접근하기 시작했고 Scr x Break the wall, Air house festival, Revival 등 주요 행사에서 공연 해 다시금 그의 얼굴을 알렸다. 이후 바이닐 문화 형성이 잘 되어있는 Club ODD, Livin‘, Teller에서 레지던트 활동을 거쳐오며 잔뼈가 굵은 디제이들 사이에서 영감을 얻고 자신의 색을 만들어갔다. 
그의 셋은 특정 장르를 불문하고 90년대와 현재 음반들을 다양하게 소화하고 장소와 상황에 맞게 때로는 진지하고 또 때로는 자극적인 셋으로 플로워에 깊은 무드를 만들어낸다.

Having cultivated a passion for digging into diverse music from a young age, he initially majored in Theater and Film. However, he was captivated by the charm of DJs commanding the dance floor, prompting him to leave his studies behind and debut as a DJ at Seoul’s Club Answer in 2013. Since then, he has built an impressive career, collecting electronic music LPs he loves and exploring new approaches to DJing after the pandemic. He has performed at major events such as Scr x Break the Wall, Air House Festival, and Revival, further cementing his presence in the scene.
Later, he honed his craft as a resident DJ at venues renowned for their vinyl culture, including Club ODD, Livin’, and Teller. Surrounded by seasoned DJs, he drew inspiration and developed his unique style.
His sets transcend specific genres, seamlessly blending records from the 1990s with contemporary releases. Adaptable to the mood and setting, his performances range from deeply serious to provocatively stimulating, crafting an immersive atmosphere on the dance floor.

We continue our love affair with Asia with another South Korean artist stepping up, and this time we present the talents of Young Sun. Not just being your average selector, Young is resident DJ at Seoul’s Teller nightclub, and he regularly welcomes top-flight artists to spin with him, and these have included Raphael Carrau, Ika and Usherenko, Dojo Zone, LVCA, Penelope, Poggio, Lamalice, Alex Dima, Alexia Glensy, the list goes on and on. The Anecdote collective founder has also been making his way across Europe during the Spring / Summer months with dates at Outcast Torino, Dias De Campo, Spook Club in Valencia, and quite a few more.

This bright selector and in-demand artist does not disappoint with his mix of our InSession series as he winds his way through a finely told sonic story. Being able to tell a tale inside just under 70 minutes is a skill in itself, but when its done in the way that Young Sun has it is clear why the Teller resident is so highly prized. Maintaining a deep emotion while building up through deep, hazy house, West Coast tech-house, and tripped-out moments is yet another skill in Young’s locker. One for those long, hot summer nights.
