Hoy Luis - @rootian, nos presenta un set con una narrativa transgeneracional y con diversos estados anímicos danzando entre ritmos lentos, sinuosos y contundentes hasta transicionar evolucionando el set hacia tracks cargados de capas de información, con la rapidez, versatilidad y dinamismo que le caracteriza en la pista de baile.

Rootian and Fuentes-Guerra, from Honest Allies collective, travel both from CDMX and Madrid to Rotterdam in order to make a 2 hour b2b mix for Operator Radio. From downtempo beats to more uptempo vibes, they will travel between genres and styles, creating a dialogue of what’s been a 30 years long friendship.

@Rootian take us into a journey from beginning to end, opening Yuyu’s basement, one of the most prominent and representative clubs in Mexico City. During the October’s full moon, Luis invites us to explore an atmospheric landscape of sound full of layers, tension and sonic textures. 

Like many of other contemporary peers in México who operate within Mexico’s deconstructed club scene, he experiments with broken-polyrhythmics beats or that try to break away from the 4x4 narrative, Rootian has a deep, psychedelic sound that is rich in information, which characterizes him and transports us through spaces in a spiral of emotions, expansively evolving in BPMs, ranging from 100 up to 170.

In these sets, where the freedom of movement is settled, Luis narrates places with dark skies, bleak future and dystopian universes, creating multi-layered scapes and a variety of moods, that sometimes are unsettling and sometimes are captivating, throughout a subtle, moving, and immersive sonic design. The diversity of rhythms unfolds as if in a automative factory, and the set builds up a rhythmic and acid tension, like small fireworks painting themselves slowly, merging with winding emotions that intensify towards the end of the listening experience.

@Rootian nos presenta un viaje de principio a fin abriendo el basement de YuYu, uno los clubes referentes de la Ciudad de México. Durante la luna llena de octubre, Luis explora paisajes de atmósferas sonoras con capas, tensión y texturas.

Como varixs de sus contemporánexs de México que se mueven dentro del deconstructed club, los ritmos rotos o que intentan salir de las narrativas 4x4, Rootian tiene un sonido profundo, psicodélico y cargado de información, que lo caracteriza y nos transporta a través de espirales envueltas en emociones y que expansivamente evolucionan en bpms, desde los 100 hasta llegar a los 170.

En estos sets, donde se denota la libertad de movimiento, Luis nos relata lugares de cielo oscuro, futuro sombrío y universos distópicos, creando múltiples capas, espacios simbólicos y variedad de estados de ánimo, que a veces incomodan y a otras nos catapultan, con un diseño sonoro sutil, conmovedor y absorbente. La diversidad de ritmos van sucediendo como si de una fabrica automotriz se tratara y el set aumenta de tensión rítmica y ácida, como pequeños fuegos artificiales pintados lentamente, fundiéndose con emociones serpenteantes que aumentan de intensidad hacia el final de la escucha.

This Set is focused on the music i listen during the Winter. For me, writing the title "HIVERN" is based on the appreciation i have of the music, artists and sounds from the Record Label "Hivern Discs" from Barcelona, in my born country. It means a lot for me because it has been inspiring me from the beginning til nowadays.

Young Drums es un dúo Mexicano formado por Diego Ferreyra y Josue Becerra. que nace en 2009 en su ciudad natal, Salamanca, Gto. Como uno de los proyectos musicales y promotores culturales más importantes del centro de México.

A pesar de una orientación musical normalmente focalizada a la pista de baile, personficada en los mejores eventos del país, con sets energicos, rítmicos y normalmente uptempos, suelen fusionar generos como Techno, Industrial, EBM, Italo Disco, New Beat, Disco, hoy se presentan con nosotros para mostrarnos su lado mas introspectivo mostrándonos un set vespertino, con una selección exquisita, de tempos lentos y tintes tomados desde el ambient, al tribal, dub etc.

Josué y Diego, Han compartido escenario con exponentes nacionales e internacionales como Zombies In Miami, Marsman, Alessandro Adriani, Justin Long, Snuo, Paramida, Knekelhuis, AAAA, Objekt, Sneaker, Identified Patient, Interstellar Funk, entre otros.

HONEST ALLIES #002 // Young Drums (Haunted Space)

Hoy tenemos la suerte de lanzar una nueva sesión de una figura de referencia en la escena musical madrileña, y que ha sido, y es, un icono para nosotros. @alvarocabana nos graba esta sesión de influencias y selecciones, repleta de sonidos alternativos y experimentales con carácter noventero. Electrónica, post rock, neofolk , psicodelia entre otros.

Para quien no lo conozca, Álvaro es uno de los perfiles más importantes en el clubbing madrileño, con residencias en clubes como Coppelia, Rubble! o Mondo Disko. Sin aferrarse a un único género musical, en sus sets, llenos de energía heredada del House y el Techno, podemos encontrar influencias New Wave, EBM, sonidos exóticos del mundo, el lado más ‘Leftfield’ de la música disco, o reminiscencias post punk, todo ello aderezado con altas dosis de psicodelia, ritmos a baja combustión y siempre jugando con el factor sorpresa en la pista de baile consiguiendo lo que no todos consiguen, que tanto fanáticos como neófitos terminen disfrutando de su discurso musical.

Es también el dueño del conocido sello Rotten City Records, en el que acaba de publicar EP uno de los Honest Allies, Lebollet, así como figuras del clubbin tan importantes como Bawrut, Vox Low, Daniel Kyo, Roe Deers, Damon Jee, Cannibal Ink, Dj Rocca, y un sinfín de artistas nacionales e internacionales. 
Como productor, Álvaro siempre ha mostrado su gusto por la colaboración con diferentes artistas. Con Marcos In Dub formó el dúo Los López en 2012, lanzando algunos temas originales y remixes en sellos como Days Of Being Wild, Nein y Blindetonation.
En 2017 se embarca en una nueva aventura formando la banda D.Y.O.R. (junto con Ruben Kielmansegge y Christian C), actualmente es miembro de otro proyecto junto con el reconocido productor y DJ francés Damon Jee, uniendo fuerzas para crear Holographic Planes, un proyecto con el cual han remezclado a Vox Low y Cabaret Nocturne además de lanzar un EP en Critical Monday (remezclado por Jennifer Cardini) y otro tema original en 12" en el sello de Curses, Ombra International.

Today we are lucky enough to launch a new session by a leading figure in the Madrid music scene, who has been, and still is, an icon for us. Alvaro Cabana records this session of influences and selections, full of alternative and experimental sounds with a 90's character. Electronic, post rock, neofolk, psychedelia among others.

For those who don't know him, Álvaro is one of the most important figures in Madrid clubbing, with residencies in clubs like Coppelia, Rubble! or Mondo Disko. Without sticking in a single musical genre, in his sets, full of energy inherited from House and Techno, we can find New Wave influences, EBM, exotic sounds of the world, the more 'Leftfield' side of disco, or post punk reminiscences, everything seasoned with high doses of psychedelia, low combustion rhythms.

He is also the owner of the well-known label Rotten City Records, on which one of the Honest Allies, Lebollet, has just released an EP, as well as clubbin figures as important as Bawrut, Vox Low, Daniel Kyo, Roe Deers, Damon Jee, Cannibal Ink, Dj Rocca, and an endless number of national and international artists.
As a producer, Álvaro has always liked collaborating with different artists. He formed the duo Los López with Marcos In Dub in 2012, releasing some original tracks and remixes on labels such as Days Of Being Wild, Nein and Blindetonation.
In 2017 he embarks on a new adventure, forming the band D.Y.O.R. (together with Ruben Kielmansegge and Christian C). He is also member of the project Holographic Planes, alognside Damon Jee, with which they have remixed Vox Low and Cabaret Nocturne as well as releasing an EP on Critical Monday (remixed by Jennifer Cardini) and another original track on 12" on Curses' label, Ombra International.

“Y nos encontramos sentados, contemplando el aleteo de aquella sombra expectante, dubitativa a veces, imperiosa a otras. Contigo, la sencillez no tiene cabida, como un halo ocre, corres a la puerta y con una bocanada de aire encapsulado suspiras por aquel abrazo a la vida y el olor a leña de chaparro recién quemado. Conmigo, aquí todo cambió, o todo sigue igual, en retrospectiva sesión tras sesión conseguiste expandir el ruido. Por primera vez sentí las arrugas del aburrimiento enmascarado, con cierta ligereza y con sangre de horchata, como oda a la danza de lo insustancial.” 
Fragmentos de una alergia sin fin.

Con Postmortem Allergies, Rootian nos invita a caminar por una serie de pasajes ambient por los cuales hemos ido transitando como sociedad postmodernista en este nuevo presente distópico. Las causas y los efectos de la  generación del cansancio, fueron abducidas por el sufrimiento contemporáneo, siempre latente, contínuamente insatisfecho. El individualismo y la idiosincrasia extremista hacen resonar enaltecidos, en un contínuo diálogo de ruptura encima de una mesa llena de pintura acrílica, de secado rápido. El endiosamiento y la omnipotencia en acecho de un terror pandémico, provocó la confusión mundial, pretendiendo contemplar lo distinto en unos ojos efímeros, sedientos de ese noticiero con narrativa deconstruida. La meditación y ecuanimidad se mercantilizaron y por irremediable continuidad nos sentimos obligados a tolerar la incertidumbre de nuestros espejos. 

Despues de abandonarnos y reconstruirnos en el exilio, en ese contenedor de emociones que transita, aquel que llamamos cuerpo, volvemos a entender que su movimiento es el documento de su resistencia. Donde el ruido cognitivo se erosiona, donde el autómata flujo del porvenir se acaba convirtiendo en menaje del hogar, ahí estamos tú, yo y los que no alcanzaron al final del relato… Brindemos a la vida que hoy es siempre y todavía.

@panka-panka-music son un dúo formado por Xarly (Gameboyz, Melómana Records) y Miguel Blanco (Zircusroom), y nos han preparado un viaje donde el downtempo se fusiona con lo experimental, con el ácido, con lo instrumental y lo vocal. Las líneas de género, estilo o dirección, quedan desdibujadas a favor un ritmo lento y espacial.

Nuestro séptimo mix viene de la mano de la exquisita seleción de @nickcobby, artista visual y selector, afincado en CDMX. Nick, tiene una residencia para la radio londinense @NetilRadio con su proyecto de podcasts @fieldtrips y el día de hoy viene a proponernos un viaje sonoro con una evolución desde la calma a la trascendencia, mostrandonos un largo camino de emociones y vivencias. Desde un Ambient dinámico y expansivo a un electro rico en formas e instrumentos. Nick nos traza un paisaje sonoro gracias a un delicado sentido del gusto y su característico toque emocional, sobrevolando un amplio eclecticismo en géneros y estilos de expresión.

"In 2008 I took an overnight train journey from London to Berlin, which I recorded on a high-density field microphone. This recording has been waiting on a hard drive since then and I always planned on making a mix to accompany it. When Field Trips began as a radio show, field recordings were a part of the experience, and I have returned to that ethos with this mix.

Unsurprisingly the mix itself is designed with long journeys in mind - beginning with dreamy, ambient sounds that become more uptempo and electronic as the mix progresses. Headphones are strongly recommended. Come on a trip…"

Our seventh mix comes from the exquisite selection of @nickcobby, visual artist and selector, based in CDMX. Nick has a residency at the London radio station @NetilRadio with his podcast project @fieldtrips , and today he delivers us a sonic journey with an evolution from calm to transcendence, showing us a long way of emotions and experiences. From a dynamic and expansive Ambient to an electro rich in forms and instruments. Nick traces a sonic landscape thanks to a delicate sense of taste and his characteristic emotional touch, flying over a wide eclecticism in genres and styles of expression.

HONEST ALLIES #007 // Nick Cobby (Field Trips / Netil Radio)

Rootian is the name behind Luis Cobos Palenzuela, a music selector and Psychologist from Spain, now based in México City. He brings name and roots from an eclectic style swinging between moods and genres, nourished from the places where he has crossed through the path of his life, living in the Netherlands, UK, Spain and now settled in México.

Without holding onto a single style, his music dig into electro and layers of Wave, the vibrant of acid, the psychedelic part of late 90's trance tracks and the cosmic slide of 80's Italian music, the energy of EBM and sometimes the expansion of ambient, all mixed with folkloric sounds, flavoured with percussive/strong bass-lines and organic vocals/instruments. He loves to extend his sets moving through down to up tempo electronics.

He shares the partnership @honestallies with their long-term-friends @fuentesguerra and @Lebollet both from Córdoba, Spain where they merge artistic-collaborative expressions from different disciplines as performance, installations, symbolic spaces and concepts.
