Composer, percussionist and multidisciplinary artist @rrucculla is undoubtedly one of the most eclectic projects to emerge from Spain in recent times, combining abstraction, plasticity and experimentation with an uncommon mastery.

Since her first impact on the electronic "headz" scene with SHuSH [Sound Sketches, 2018], the Basque producer has been carefully distilling her new album Zeru Freq., which will be released on Barcelona’s Lapsus record label. The album is wide-ranging, interweaving sound and art that transports the listener into an immersive universe.

Zeru Freq. envelops us in a Euskadi environment, guiding us through an open-air museum, containing a collection of eleven sound productions that fuse nature, landscapes and the local climate. This epic musical journey incorporates organic frequencies painted in Technicolor, in which hyper-realistic synthesizer textures merge with acoustic instruments, resulting in an atmospheric ambient sound that warps our perceptions of reality.

At a sonic level the unmistakable stamp of RRUCCULLA is omnipresent, but this time she climbs to even higher plains. Zeru Freq. explores an expanded aural palette, traversing the borders of strictly electronic music, while laying foundations for a new audio discourse. Throughout its eleven tracks, RRUCCULLA embraces the broadest spectrum of contemporary music, flirting with avant-garde electronica at will, without succumbing to labels or pigeonholing.

Zeru Freq. is the sound of shapes; figures and strokes, it is a work that mutates with each passing moment, until the last note is heard.

Kicking off on a sensitive note and a fragile state of things everywhere around us so a live vinyl mix of mid to late 90s deep healing energy vibes from the drum & bass / jungle world was the only thing I wanted to mix & blend this last week.

Sprinkle that with some major digging from the Vaults for tunes that sounded/sound ever so fresh in/out of the clubs (TIP: predominantly b-sides & unknown gems) and hey presto, I could do another 2 hrs easily>>>>

Allergy Season alum Love Letters and label boss Physical Therapy team up to tackle new territory on Hunk. In two distinct versions, the duo explore prismatic soundscapes and gut-rattling bass.

Echoing across 13 minutes, the ‘Ouroboros Mix’ is an epic of dark dub in half-time. Layers of heady sound build and decay through the song’s several movements, while ballooning delays ricochet across syrup-thick low end. It’s a winding trip, weaving tension and release.

The pair buff things up for the ‘Herculean Mix,’ a stripped back techno interpretation, which builds Hunk’s heavy bass lines from squelch to squall. The mind-bending sound palette is glued to a breakneck 606 drum machine for a peak time potency.

Physical Therapy & Love Letters - Hunk (Herculean Mix)

Matthew Coulombe aka @nixtrove is a Canadian producer and live performer. Initially pursuing the drums as a practice as well as sound engineering, Matthew turned to electronic music production as a means of expression. Working with computer software, hardware, samples and field recordings, he now has a prolific discography under the Nixtrove moniker. His first record label release is due with independent Brussels-based label @perspektiflabel , called Hexagons; 6 tracks of immersive ambient electronic beats soon to be released on cassette.
