a slow, deep, musical tribute to my experience of playing through final fantasy 14 online <3

i started playing final fantasy 14 online (ff14) around the time i was diagnosed with a life-changing illness. i was living at my mom’s in a city i’m not very fond of with a new, life-changing, potentially life-destroying diagnosis. this game brought me such desperately needed escape. playing through its story, i felt a part of something special and inspiring. i truly think ff14 has some of the best fantasy storytelling out there, including in competition with books, tv, movies, and so on. it’s also so beautiful visually and sonically and has so many important, uplifting messages. 

this mix is a tribute to ff14 soundtracks and other music i was listening to a lot during my depressing experience of 2021-2022, where i couldn’t do much other than distract myself from what i was going through. it’s the second (third?) mix in a series of ambient mixes i’ve made, with the prior being a tribute to the video game world of guild wars. cynn’s lullaby as i go by cynn both on guild wars and ff14. 

i really can’t recommend ff14 enough, although maybe play it when you are in a less busy time as there are hundreds of hours of story to play through and it is SO GOOD it can be hard to log off. it’s a massively multiplayer online role playing game, but you can basically play through it on your own and at your own pace. if you’ve played ff14 or end up playing it, please get in contact so we can screech about how iconic, and for me - life changing, its story is.

KUCHULU is swiftly making a name for themselves. As a DJ, they create sceneries where otherwise different styles bend and attach to each other at the same time as they dislocate.
