Strøm Mixx 029 - KUCHULU

Allergy Season alum Love Letters and label boss Physical Therapy team up to tackle new territory on Hunk. In two distinct versions, the duo explore prismatic soundscapes and gut-rattling bass.

Echoing across 13 minutes, the ‘Ouroboros Mix’ is an epic of dark dub in half-time. Layers of heady sound build and decay through the song’s several movements, while ballooning delays ricochet across syrup-thick low end. It’s a winding trip, weaving tension and release.

The pair buff things up for the ‘Herculean Mix,’ a stripped back techno interpretation, which builds Hunk’s heavy bass lines from squelch to squall. The mind-bending sound palette is glued to a breakneck 606 drum machine for a peak time potency.

As a musician with a background in experimental music and a former jazz drummer, Itaho started on the rave scene and in underground circles.
Sensitive to the “plasticity” of sound, she offers a vast but always percussive musical universe. Now a member of the Bienvenue au Club collective, she collaborates with a number of platforms, including the “Tu mixes bien... pour une fille” (You mix well... for a girl), a campaign to raise the profile of women in electronic music.

schnucki47, currently based in frankfurt, is part of @impuls_crew from freiburg and has been djing and organizing events there for a couple of years now, shaping the local scene. we really enjoyed her radio mix output so far and are delighted to now present to you her beton.fm mix full of experimental bass bops with a drizzle of spheric, glitchy sounds. we hope you enjoy just as much as we did!

The second podcast on Rootcast series is a special one!.
All the way from Dar es Salaam, the ninth fastest-growing city in the world. We presents to you DJ and Producer  Duke Hailing from Pamoja Records. A young singeli producer known as the blender of traditional Zanzibari taraab music, michiruku, sebene and many other genres in a lightening, gabber-like tempo.

Last summer the Ugandan label @nyege-nyege-tapes and The Kampala collective organizes Nyege Nyege Festival releasing his debut album Uingizaji Hewa, Described by resident advisor as it embraces this outsider mentality and occupies the edges of sonic acceptability.

This year Duke alongside Mc MCZO, Gave several gigs around Europe and performed in Unsound Festival and many more.

In this yanni mix Duke brings the finest crops of Pamoja Record with a splendid ensemble of their sickest MCs, Starring Mczo Morfani, Muchizo, Kitale, Kashiwash, Dogo Lizz and Kuke. This sound pierces rubbers in everything but road rollers.

@muqataa is a producer, beats craftsman and MC. Creating sounds based in Ramallah, using sampled material, field recordings, and electronic devices, the results range between harsh beats, ambient tones, increasingly been known for his more avant-garde noise music. and glitch. He released a number of solo albums in the past few years such as “Hayawan Nateq” in 2013 and his soundtrack album “La Lisana Lah” 2017 and the limited tape edition on Third Type Tapes “Dubt Al-Ghubar” in 2017 and recently released his full-length album “Inkanakuntu” on the sub-label souk/discrepant, and has composed several international and local film scores, as well as dance theater performances, and is now working on different collaborative and solo projects. Muqata'a is the godfather of hip hop in Ramallah.

Nidal Taha Is a resident DJ & founding member of assembli now (drowned by locals) Amman.
 He has played different events and festival alongside regional and international artists like oddz, Mayss, Via App, Jad Atoui and Hiro Kone, 
His sound has a focus toward ambient, new age and industrial music that is influenced by the UK’s 1980’s Sheffield scene to the sounds coming from Warp Records and those influenced by them. He is constantly honing his craft, developing his sound and with his anything goes attitude takes the listener through a story-like journey.
