Ben Redwood est un passionné de culture, de musique, d’art et de nature.
Tombé dans le chaudron magique de la Dub Culture depuis une dizaine d’année, c’est à chaque fois un aboutissement et une quête intérieure lorsque le moment de partager une œuvre créée dans le home-studio se présente. Heureux d'assumer une vision ouverte, engagée, sans frontière de la création artistique, c’est avec plusieurs Connexions que cette album s’est construit.
Tout d’abord avec le camarade belgo-suisse Woodub, dubmaker et instrumentiste confirmé de Oud et d'Ocarina notamment, qui est présent sur deux titres. Ensuite avec Janiss Anton, chanteuse française à la voix envoutante, qui nous fait l’honneur de proposer un titre engagé percutant sur la situation que nous vivons depuis presque deux ans. Enfin, Bruno (HDUD Mastering) qui a pu accompagner le processus de réalisation et assurer le mastering de ce nouvel opus.

The Root of all Evil (Original Mix)

A cover of Aswad’s powerful “African Children” track, this updated version is as politically relevant today as it was when originally released 34 years ago. In light of the Grenfell Tower tragedy we thought the track was appropriate in highlighting poverty, housing conditions and inequality, plus the importance of making your voice heard in a society that so often sweeps aside the voices of the many in favour of the few (Spikey Tee’s end coda of “Chant down babylon and help turn the page”). 

All proceeds of the single /EP release will raise money for those affected by the Grenfell Tower Fire that occurred in London in June 2017. 

“Babylon Children” featuring Spikey Tee has been lifted from Jstar’s “Stand To Order” album with some heavyweight remixes behind it from Numa Crew (IT), Dubmatix (CA) and Adam Prescott (UK).

In loving memory of the late great Michael "Prophet" Haynes (1957 - 2017)

The Roots Defender Band had the privilege to work close with Prophet for several stage shows and recording sessions in Italy and Europe; an experience never to be forgotten.

This tribute track was arranged, played and recorded by the Roots Defenders at the Satta Studio, Italy, a few weeks after Prophet's bodily departure. A one-shot live reggae rockers piece as a tribute for one of the greatest reggae artists. 

We later took the tracks to Mad Professor to get the proper Ariwa treatment. Now completed, the tribute has been uploaded today 03/03/2019, which would have been Prophet's 62nd earthday.
