Mungo's HI FI - Serious Time Ft YT

Rubadubaday Series!

This track is the first in a selection of versions that were done as an experiment to break the mundanity of the day job. Each dub was created from start to finish during a 20-30 minute break. There was no pre-production involved just straight inspiration against the clock.

These dub versions were created outside of the usual Rootside studio and instead on a Macbook with Logic Express. All instrument sounds and effect are generated from Logic. This gives a new approach to creating music and produced a different feel to my normal methods by taking me out of my comfort zone.

The idea was to lay down a groove with drums and bass and experiment with elements of dub for 2-3 mins.

I limited myself to 3 instruments: Drums, Bass and Keys

Only 3 Effects: Tape Delay, Reverb and Phase

Due to the nature of these versions no time has been spent on traditional mixing or mastering techniques, listen with an open mind and most all enjoy and absorb yourself in the spacey influences of Lee Perry, King Tubby and The Twilight Circus Dub Soundsystem.

Continuing the rubadubaday style this version takes influence from the Burning Spear living dub albums, i think thats all i had been listening to that morning, must have crept into the subconscious.

Probably my personal favourite of the week, i wonder what yours will be?
