DAWA HIFI x ROOTS RAID ft. MIGHTY CRICKET – ONE SHEEP

Dawa Hifi and Roots Raid join forces once again after their two previous collaborations:
“Red Light Album” (2024) and “Nexus EP” (2025, with Vixen Sound).

This time, the collective teams up with Mighty Cricket, a singer from New Caledonia, for a brand new single: “ONE SHEEP”.

Dawa Hifi first met Mighty Cricket in 2008 at a party hosted by Coptic Sound in Lille, then Roots Raid met him in 2010 – which led to the track “Get Out” on Roots Raid’s debut album “From The Top”, recorded in Bourges in collaboration with Ondubground.
That same year, Mighty Cricket recorded two songs – “ONE SHEEP” and “JAH KNOW” – written by Humble I (poet and rasta singer – RIP), at the Coptic Sound studio.

The original version of “ONE SHEEP” was recorded that same year at Control Tower Studio in Bordeaux, with Dub Machinist, Sirhill (Control Tower) and I-Tist on production.

The lyrics are mystical, and Mighty Cricket delivers a deep, heartfelt performance.

After circulating for years as dubplates, the idea of rebuilding the instrumentals of both tracks began to take shape.
Roots Raid reworked “JAH KNOW” (coming later this year), while Dawa Hifi crafted a brand new riddim for “ONE SHEEP”, with Roots Raid’s Natty Bass and Bongo B adding live instrumentation.

Classical guitar, n'goni, percussions, and analog synths enrich a raw electronic pattern, carefully mixed.
This meditative dub piece is built both for the heaviest sound systems and the smallest walkmans.

Dawa Hifi et Roots Raid unissent à nouveau leurs forces après leurs deux précédentes collaborations :
« Red Light Album » (2024) et « Nexus EP » (2025, avec Vixen Sound).

Cette fois, c’est avec le chanteur calédonien Mighty Cricket que le collectif s’associe pour un nouveau single : « ONE SHEEP ».

Rencontré par Dawa Hifi en 2008 lors d’une soirée organisée par Coptic Sound à Lille, puis par Roots Raid en 2010 (ce qui donnera naissance au morceau « Get Out » sur le premier album « From The Top » de Roots Raid, enregistré à Bourges en collaboration avec Ondubground), Mighty Cricket enregistre alors deux titres, « ONE SHEEP » et « JAH KNOW », écrits par Humble I (poète et chanteur rasta – RIP), au studio Coptic Sound.

Les lyrics sont mystiques, et l’interprétation de Mighty Cricket est profondément habitée.

Après avoir tourné pendant des années en dubplate, l’idée de revisiter les instrumentales de ces deux morceaux refait surface.
Roots Raid retravaille « JAH KNOW » (à paraître plus tard cette année), tandis que Dawa Hifi propose un nouveau riddim pour « ONE SHEEP », sur lequel Roots Raid (Natty Bass et Bongo B) viennent poser leurs instruments.

Guitare classique, n'goni, percussions et synthétiseurs analogiques viennent enrichir un pattern électronique brut, soigneusement mixé.
Un morceau à haute teneur méditative, taillé aussi bien pour les plus lourds des sound systems que pour les plus petits walkmans.

Roots Raid est né en 2011 sous l’impulsion de deux amis musiciens/producteurs Natty Bass, guitariste et bassiste & Bongo B, percussionniste. Ils fondent leur propre label Berry’s
Records et créent leur studio analogique dans lequel ils conceptualisent et réalisent plus d’une dizaine de maxis vinyles depuis 2014 avec de prestigieux MCs et invités (Shanti D, Danman, Peter Youthman, Mighty Cricket)..
Après un premier opus «From the top» sorti en 2014, et une centaine
de dates en France et à l’international (Allemagne, Autriche, Belgique, Espagne, Portugal, Norvège...),
Roots Raid revient avec son deuxième album « NUIT BLANCHE» composé de 18 morceaux sur le label ODGprod. Un double album sur lequel les toasters Cookah et Likkle Ferguson viennent poser leurs voix et leurs textes. Avec «NUIT BLANCHE», Roots Raid réinvente son style, à la croisée des genres, entre deep dub, stepper, bass music, cumbia et neo soul, tout en puisant dans les racines des débuts roots et reggae.
Un double album éclectique et assumé qui reflète les influences qui ont inspiré Roots Raid sur les 4 dernières années. Un projet enrichi par de nombreuses collaborations et featuring: Panda Dub, Dawa Hifi, Mael Cageron..
Après un single « Rooty Cowboy » co-produit avec Panda Dub en avril 2022, qui évoquait le voyage initiatique d’un jeune Cowboy devenant adulte, Nuit Blanche explore de nombreux univers, de la voie lactée (« Calling the universe », « Milky Way »…), aux temps modernes (« Modern Times ») en passant par la transidentité (« Transgender »).

Roots Raid was born in 2011 under the leadership of two musicians/producers friends Natty Bass, guitarist and bassist & Bongo B, percussionist.

They founded their own label Berry's Records and created their analog studio in Tours in which they conceptualized and produced more than ten maxi vinyls since 2014 with prestigious MCs and guests (Shanti D, Danman, Peter Youthman, Mighty Cricket, etc.) .

After a first opus “From the top” focused on dub, roots and rub a dub released in 2014, and around a hundred dates in France and internationally (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Norway, etc.), Roots Raid returns with his second album “NUIT BLANCHE” composed of 18 tracks on the ODGprod label. A double album on which the toasters Cookah and Likkle Ferguson add their voices and lyrics. With “NUIT BLANCHE”, Roots Raid reinvents its style, at the crossroads of genres, between deep dub, stepper, bass music, cumbia and neo soul, while drawing on the roots of early roots and reggae.

An eclectic and assertive double album which reflects the influences which have inspired Roots Raid over the last 4 years. A project enriched by numerous collaborations and featuring: Panda Dub, Dawa Hifi, Mael Cageron.

After a single “Rooty Cowboy” co-produced with Panda Dub in April 2022, which evoked the initiatory journey of a young Cowboy becoming an adult, Nuit Blanche explores numerous universes, from the Milky Way (“Calling the universe”, “Milky Way”…), to modern times (“Modern Times”) through transidentity (“Transgender”).
