Brothers In Arts on That Disco Groove Radio Show 021

This week’s special guests are Disco Paese, a DJ duo from Bastia in Corsica. Formed in 2018 in Paris, through a mutual love of “Parisian disco night fever influences”, they play a wide variety of disco-house : Italian disco, French boogie, high energy and French house. 

Corsica is full of musicians playing in summer at well-known music events like Calvi on the Rocks, and Disco Paese have rocked quite a few gigs. But they also love to escape to other European countries to share their Corsican Disco aka Disco from Paese.

Welcome to the first Rortron Radio of the year and this one features none other than @evenfunkier from London, UK! I first heard of Tom Whittaker here on SoundCloud with a few of his edits and mixes, including the "The Funkier Radio Show" which I had the pleasure of doing a guest mix for last month. 

London-based DJ and Producer Even Funkier searches high and low for the funkiest music he can find, weaving together Disco, Funk, House, Soul, Boogie, Jazz, Hip Hop and Global delights to create something fresh, irresistibly funky and downright groovy. He plays tunes from across the decades, genres and BPMs, mixing up hidden gems with tried and tested favourites, with a focus on sweet, sweet Disco music brought right up to date for modern dancefloors.

As well as presenting a long-running fortnightly radio show and hosting a weekly livestream (and the occasional 33 hour charity DJ set), he’s also made waves on the production side in 2021, with releases on a rapidly growing selection of cool labels including Hot Digits, Spa In Disco, Mango Sounds and Tropical Disco. He’s a versatile DJ, just as at home playing a vintage funk session, spinning spacey nu disco or banging out a house set… or maybe all of the above and more in one of his trademark rollercoaster genre-fluid sets. 

For the first hour, we'll have Even Funkier starting things off right with a funky tune by one of my favorites Paul Older. I love this mix, lots of variety from funky synths, to soulful vocals, with some exotic sounds sprinkled in.

Based out of Eugene, Oregon, Rortron started DJing and producing at the beginning of 2018. It was after getting laid off from his job that he decided to purchase a controller and start learning how to mix. Since then, he has fallen in love with providing good vibes on the dance floor and in your headphones and home speakers. He has DJ’d all over his hometown at places like The Big Dirty, Sam Bond’s, Cowfish, Thinking Tree Spirits, and many others.

His enthusiasm for dancing and appreciating amazing shows has shaped him to always make his sets and performances memorable. He realizes it’s about the people in the crowd and creating a selection of hospitable vibes that invite you to come back for more.

Rortron is the kind of guy you can feel comfortable introducing to your parents. He is always moving and smiling when he DJ’s.
