This is an outtake of a Bob Dylan song that I tried to do as un-Dylanesque as I could and I hope I succeeded. This is a personal favourite of mine but it was recorded incorrectly so the quality isn't good enough for full release. I'll probably re-do it but properly this time and maybe it will be the next single (actually, probably better as an album track at nearly seven minutes!!). Hopefully I'll still be able to capture the feel of this original recording.

I'm willing to bet not many of you have heard this. Elton John (and possibly Emperor Rosko?) review Laser Love, the new single at the time by Marc Bolan & T.Rex. You decide if Elton's just a tad patronising about little Marc. Apologies for the dodgy character at the beginning, at the time it was worth recording off Top Of The Pops. Recorded in a professional studio in Nottingham, I think the drum sound is sampled off Kashmir by Led Zeppelin but you wouldn't know it. I wrote an interesting lyric for this, no idea where the story line came from but when they come get them down I say. The idea of the line at the end, changing 'love is strange' to 'love is a strain', came from the Marc Bolan & T.Rex song 'Life Is Strange' off the Tanx album in which Bolan changes it to say 'life is a strain'.

My version of the Marc Bolan & T.Rex song 'Jewel' which I always thought lent itself to a more bluesy sound (and turning into a longer song .. 4m 22s here, original is 2m 46s).
