Westwood is proud to welcome SugarBeats to the Westwood Recordings family with their debut full-length offering, the “Fly High” LP.
The Oregon-based duo has been bringing the funk up and down the west coast for over 5 years now, playing major festivals such as Lightning in a Bottle, What The Festival, and Burning Man. Garnering steady support from the Future Funk community and most recently winning 1st place in our Shambhala Remix Competition for the legendary producer Opiuo, we've had our eyes on the duo ever since as they've been building momentum towards their much anticipated debut album, "Fly High." The album features all original compositions recorded over the past year with a diverse cast of talented musicians and vocalists. Inspired by the sounds of funk, hip-hop, glitch, and future bass, SugarBeats have truly managed to uncover a sound of their own.

"The Hex" tells a story about the uncertainty of the future, specifically our future as a band. We came up with the name on our very first tour when we found a book about sacred geometry. All spiritual meanings aside, this track tells the story of our very first national tour from running out of gas on the side of the highway to rocking sold out shows. As we woke up everyday, we had no idea what that day had in store for us and we were living life by the moment. We truly discovered that life is about the journey, not the destination. Feeding off energy gained from the road, "The Hex" is a summary of 22,000 miles of driving across the US in a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
