I poured my soul into every tone, shaping the automations and effects purely by feeling, without thinking about production techniques. I made this piece to heal myself and tune my own frequencies – and in the process, I found a deep sense of peace.

If this song can bring even a little calm or healing to someone else, then I’ve succeeded.

Judas 80s Version (Dreamy + Extra Slowed)

Italian mainstay Kaiser returns to Animal Farm after last year’s exquisite ‘In A Mold’ EP. It’s been an inspired year for him to say the least - ‘Ocean’ shows the fruits of his incredible dedication in the studio.

‘Hypnotetic Journey’ is an incredible dancefloor bomb with tight drums and muted synth stabs that display Kaiser’s understanding of restraint. Stripped back and rolling, the track doesn’t quite erupt, instead opting for a leering atmosphere of tension.

’Ocean’ announces an emotional maturity to Kaiser’s production, hinted at on recent remixes for the label. As always, his kinetic approach is omnipresent, but the track’s lush pads and transcendent aural tones go beyond dancefloor functionality. Kaiser’s ability to create cathartic moments is second to none, and that has never been more apparent than it is here.

‘Time Out’, ironically, is the most intense peak-time workout here - synths modulate and twist against a booming low-end to create an intense stomper in Kaiser’s distinct style. ‘Rushing’ is the most distorted offering here, starting off with modulated kicks and a hard attitude, before shattering expectations with another moment of purifying elegance.

User Experience welcomes young German and living meme, Nils Viktor Voss, or Corroid as the world will know him from now on. Corroid sent me a track a while back for mastering.. an absolute face melter. I asked him via the medium of dance if he had any more tracks. Now I cannot get rid of him, he sends stuff all the time, if it’s not music it’s memes. The only way I am able to deactivate the meme machine is to try and divert his attention elsewhere. So, find him on facebook, meme him until he is unable to function.

Joining Corroid on this record are two fucking amazing artists who I admire a great deal; Myler and Jasmine Azarian who both execute their remixes with precise brutality.

This is an unusual record as the manufacturing won’t start until the kickstarter has reached 120 pre orders. If the world is truly evil and we don’t get enough pre orders the EP will come out as digital only.

As for the track names I considered translating for the ignorant English (myself included) then I heard Corroid’s flatmate say.. ‘YOU CANNOT TRANSLATE THEM, THIS IS TRUE ART’. Well thats bollocks but tbh I don’t have time for translations.

‘Rise And Shine’, the first full Ostgut Ton solo release by Substance (aka @Peter-Kuschnereit), sees him fusing his deep, industrial aesthetic with the resonant bass-heavy leanings of his alter ego DJ Pete, as evidenced on the title track’s off-kilter metallic riddims and multiple, interlaced SH-101 and Prophet 5 melodies. From there, potential set-closer “Countdown” blasts off with relentlessly rattling, scraping breaks, hissing German vox and big chords. The compact explorations of “Bird Cave” and “Distance” offer a more atmospheric take on bass and rhythm, while EP closer “Cruising” re-explores the uncanny, Berlin deep techno cosmos Kuschnereit has helped define, this time in denser form.
