"I wrote Lanterns on the night I was supposed to leave for a dream holiday in the Seychelles in April 2020, sadly it was cancelled. I was wistful at what could have been but resolute in wanting to make the most of all the new-found free time at home. It turned out to be a very formative time for me and my music."

In our increasingly hectic and switched on lives, it is becoming more vital than ever to disconnect from the world around us. If we spent the same amount of time we spend on Instagram and Candy Crush sitting in silence, trying to clear our minds of thoughts and negative feelings, we might all become more aware of the time we truly have on this planet, and the significance of it. 

'Meditation' is an homage to this state of mind; the clarity and euphoria that can be achieved through mindfulness.

'Awake' started as a tribute to the late great Bill Withers, who is sampled throughout. How a man from such humble beginnings can achieve such profound greatness and success whilst staying completely grounded and down to earth should be an inspiration to us all. It is this notion, of something so simple yet magnificent, that really fuelled the inspiration for this song.

Awake

It was 2:00am. The smell of rainfall was rich in the spring night. Thick pillowy clouds parted to reveal the moonlight streaming down from the onyx sky. It was in between the gentle rustling of leaves and the hushing wind that I took solace in the rarity of the moment. Lockdown was here, and silence had settled on London like never before in my lifetime. 

The stillness permeated me and left a profound feeling of peace. It was this feeling that I wanted to incorporate into my latest track, ‘Monsoon Hush’. In this tribute to serenity, beauty and stolen stillness, I highlight the rarity of what we’re living through; tranquility within the mayhem.
