Inspired by and a celebration of Nova Scotia, the small coastal province in Eastern Canada that he calls home, '44° North, 63° West' sees Dezza aka Derek Silvester at his musical best. Featuring singles 'Settle', 'Getaway' and 'Carry Me', this sophomore effort is a glorious collection of progressive house productions that puts Dezza at the forefront of the genre, cementing his name as one of its most important creators.

He builds here on the success of his debut artist album 'Cosmos', released in 2019 which featured standout tracks 'Cold Outside', 'Honey' and 'Expanse', and saw him tour the world from Australia to the Netherlands to the U.S. In sharp contrast, 2020, like it was for so many, was spent largely in isolation by Dezza, who turned to the beauty and nature of his surroundings in the Nova Scotia wilderness for inspiration and comfort. The result was nineteen tracks that look outward, with Dezza finding joy in his unique environment; this is reflected in the album's tracks that are tied together by a common theme of optimism and bliss through upbeat chord progressions, driving percussion and airy, floating synths. 

He recruits a host of impressive collaborators to breathe further life into his productions, including vocalists from around the world like Lauren L'aimant, EMME, Dan Soleil, HEBE, Lewyn, Møøne and Mike Schmid, who bring their own perspectives and stories to '44° North, 63° West' with their first-rate performances.

The duo may be familiar to many of our fans through their output on Enhanced and Armada Music. They first made contact in 2018 after regularly supporting each other’s releases. After many collaborations, the Scottish/Italian pairing decided to make it official in 2020, and Alex Sonata & TheRio was born.

The contribution of veteran artist David Broaders to our label cannot be overstated. His emotive progressive anthems have graced many of our most ambitious releases over the past decade, most notably various editions of our "Silk Music Showcase" and "Only Silk" compilation series. Yet, the release of a new EP of original works from the Irish phenom is a relatively rare offering from our stable. It is thereby our great privilege to present "Hold On," a two-track EP that affirms David Broaders' perennial growth as a songwriter. I am specifically interested in situations where composers anticipate and strategize future third-party remixing of their compositions as part of a larger and complex rhetorical strategy that plays out across physical and digital spaces. We find this type of thinking—the asking of “how might the text be rewritten?” and “why, where, and for whom might this text be rewritten?”—an increasingly important set of questions in a digital age characterized, for instance, by swift, easy, and deep web searching and by copying and pasting practices. 

COLLAGE ::  Artistic compositions of materials and objects pasted and/or sewn/woven over and through surfaces, often with unifying and/or juxtaposing structures, lines, colors, themes in order to create textured, alive, amplified spaces. 

SYNTHESIS (AKA Mashup): Creating Compelling Texts comprised of borrowed, reconstituted, and original material.
