For my first Melodic Odds show of 2023, sandwiched between her favourite beautiful and weird sounds, I'm joined by Cork musician and member of The Altered Hours, Elaine Howley, who treats us to a live recorded session of three tracks.

An hour special dedicated to the memory of Dusty Springfield, which aired as part of the Noods 'An Hour For' series on the 24th anniversary of her passing.

It features music from her early bands to collaborations, covers, live versions (excuse the quality!) and some of my all-time favourites. Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I did putting it together.

An Hour For Dusty Springfield with Melodic Odds on Noods Radio (March 23)

A dive into some of the work of special sound unit, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, which my dad was a member of during the late 60s and early 70s. 

Alongside music from some of its members I had a lovely chat with Dick Mills, one of my dad’s friends and colleagues who is the longest standing member of the Workshop, having joined in 1958 when it opened.

Melodic Odds on Noods Radio (August 2023)

The last episode of my Noods show for 2023 is a ramble through some of the records on one of my favourite labels, Trunk Records. 

A goldmine for library, soundtrack, tv & radiophonic music, kitsch, jazz, ambient and more, this nearly 30 year-strong imprint has been a big source of inspiration to me over the years.

Melodic Odds on Noods Radio (August 2024)

Our 18th instalment comes via Rosie Ama. @Rosie-Ama-Cain makes up one half of DJ collective @WeAreKiaraScuro. Formerly known as ATLAS Radio, her and friend Nadia hosted shows on Reprezent Radio and Worldwide FM. 

Now part of the Balamii Radio family, their show spans ambient, EBM, new beat and electro. This has recently landed them a residency at Ghost Notes, a new Peckham-based music venue. Outside of radio and DJing, Rosie is an editor for London-based magazine Stamp The Wax.

Rosie's mix rides the intergalactic fringes of an eclectic selection of genres, falling through the mists of acid electronica.
