I recently found out that Molly Kurvink, wonderful bassist with Canadian band Tamarack, had passed away in 2018. She was a marvellous musician and a warm, generous-spirited woman. I met Tamarack when they came to Walkergate many years ago to do songwriting workshops with the kids, and to save money they stayed with me and my family, twice! Elizabeth Would Walk was my favourite Tamarack song and I dedicate this version to Molly, with love. 
The Evening Before I Said Goodbye was written by Josh Barr. I have loved it since I first heard it.

Pieces of My Jigsaw- David's song

I wrote this song after making a film about some of the soldiers from County Durham who died in World War One. Sally's husband, miner Fred Smith M.M. was one of the lucky ones who came home. 
I met Sally's sister, several of her grandchildren and hundreds of her great-grandchildren when our film was shown in the villages of the Gaunless Valley. They are a lovely family and very proud of both Sally and Fred. Our film 'In the Pink' can be viewed at www.vimeo.com/crackintoast/inthepink

Here are a few of the songs I have written over the past 15 years or so; some for school shows, some for other projects and some just for the hell of it. 
Sally Smith's Lament was written after my husband and I made a film called In the Pink: World War One Stories from the Gaunless Valley for the Evenwood History Society in County Durham in 2018. The film was Heritage Lottery funded and tells the story of the soldiers from the area who died in WW1 plus what happened to some of those who survived.
