Magnolia

A chant-like whisper, an incantation spoken in an unknown language suggesting the shadows of the occult lurking nearby. What demon or spirits may be called upon here? What winds of darkness envelop us, drowning us in this surreal space?
Actually, it is just a prayer from my childhood in my Swiss dialect: "Liaba Heiland chomm zu mir, mach a fröhlichs chind us mir. Amen, dangga." ("Dear Lord please come to me, make me a happy child. Amen, thank you.") 
Ellen's lonesome yearnings for a companion, for comfort, in the latest adaptation of Nosferatu (2024) reminded me of that very plea for happiness I would repeat every night with my hands clasped and hope in my heart. I was a happy child, so I reckon it worked out better for me than for poor Ellen Hutter.
This piece is inspired by Robert Eggers' Filmography and his collaborators in film music, Robin Carolan and Damian Volpe. It includes multiple synthesizers, acoustic bass patterns, guitar tuning, busy rattling sounds and something I like to call "DeathBreath" (breathing heavily into the microphone and reverbing the hell out of it), all created by me.

Rosie Marie Brown was started in 2022 as the solo project of singer-songwriter Isabelle "Rosie" Brown (CH/USA), born in the mountains of the quaint Rhine Valley. Her songs are candid letters that have not been sent, the soul-stripping, fearless expression of a chronically introverted human being. Deeply influenced by all matters of Rock, 70s Folk and Indie artists, Rosie's music can be described as indie-inspired folk, silently pregnant with the blues. Sometimes melancholic, sometimes angry, sometimes sad, always captivating. In 2024, her partner Tom Bensley (AUS) joined on the Bass Guitar and the two are currently working on more songs.
