The Breakfast Show on Refuge Worldwide - 2023 September 12

This meditation is part of the installation “Reset. Rest in progress” by Naomi Boima, Rositsa Mahdi, Sarah Ama Duah and Sointu Pere and was prepared within the framework of a 10-day art residency at Ausland Berlín in October 2023.
This work, presented in the form of a meditation, is an invitation to contemplate on rest as political resistance and is inspired by the body of work of Tricia hersey and the Nap Ministry. This is Rositsa Mahdi’s first experimentation with this format and it includes original writing, as well as quotes from Hersey’s book “Rest is Resistance”, Jah9’s song “Note to Self”, a Bulgarian proverb, and lines of advice by Rositsa’s father, and her friend Kat Abraham. The samples and tracks used in the recording are by Steve Crump and Glen Hoban from freesound.com

We’re back with our 31st instalment of the series and a very special guest and friend Sia K S who’s curated a majestic selection of ambient, electro and downtempo and we are here for it.
Her mix is a playful psychedelic journey, inviting us to gently lean into the new lunar cycle.

Anastasia K. Stoyanova aka Sia K S is a multidisciplinary storyteller. 

She dwells in liminal spaces: working at the intersection of the climate crisis and mysticism, she deploys words, music and symbols to transmute dread into hope. Forever grounded in the harsh reality we face instead of choosing escape, her electronic selections seek ascension as she lifts forms from the ever-present shadows we must befriend.
