Last Wednesday, January 16, Mike Shimmin (drums) Brennan Andes (bass+lap steel) and I met at the B room of Backseat Studio in Ann Arbor. Keith Kinnear engineered the session and named this song. The premise was an exercise in the collaborative creative process- to develop a tune on the spot and record it. We began with an improvisation and a few ideas emerged. Afterwards we arranged the song form out of the the bass line, drum groove and tongued trumpet lick, with the addition of lap steel on a second pass. We had a blast doing this and hope you enjoy the results of our cabin fever antidote experiment. Cheers, -A5
