Ok so the concept for this one was a single synth patch that could continuously vary over different percussion parts and layer it on itself like a shepard tone for drums so we have infinitely rising drums
You know what a shepard tone is right?

apples of my eye

(my entry to CDR x Dimensions competition 2016)
This one’s for that sunrise when you feel inexplicably fresh, and the rising sun reveals the wholesome beauty of nature once more, renewed. The birdsong sample I use at the start and the end really provided me with inspiration for the rest of the track, in quite an abstract sense - it encapsulates that whole excited, optimistic morning feeling.

I aimed to express this through the restless energy of the arpeggiated synth line and the gradual gathering of layers of percussion, shedding them in the middle for a breath of air before resuming with a new, broken beat.

I used Ableton Live 9 and a Novation MIDI keyboard. The Local Audio sample used is Ptica, from this years’ entries.
