Denis used his own voice in both tracks, making this a very personal, career-defining EP. As usual, both tracks are long excursions familiar to those following Denis's creative output."

Rotate’s first release as a vinyl imprint comes as a collective sonic statement of seven chapters. With tracks from all the music crafters of the family, Rotate starts the year with steady momentum, in a collection of different-yet-unified sound that combines wit, fresh attitude and unique musical signatures.

Makcim & Levi Verspeek cut the ribbon with peculiar focus on groove, and a sizzling  atmosphere to match. Their ‘Chickens Night Out’ (A1) works as a cradle for slowly building albeit steady dancefloor motions, without ever forgetting the balance that the use of intertwined warm tones can actually create. Mattia Lapucci grabs the gears of the (already moving) train and keeps it rotating with ‘External’ (A2), adding tips and bits of steady beat programming, joyful chords and filtered, unspoken vocals to a galactic sonic cauldron. 

Gua Camole kicks the flip-side with ‘Drop Out’ (B1), a 4 by 4 excursion to a land of hypnotic rhythms, eerie synth pads and unrecognizable vocal samples that ultimately feed a atmosphere of already great mystery and idiosyncratic acid patterns. ‘Tournikottipannacotta’ (B2) is David Gluck’s take on drum-machine experimentalism and full-toned low-ends in full effect, reminiscent of the early 00’s signature micro-house movement where microscopic sample-cutting and shuffled hi-hats were all the rage.

Cleymoore’s ‘Endless Rotation’ (C1) is a 15-minute journey through startling soundscapes, sweltering synths and his endemic, hand-shifted drum arrangements. Dialogues from a obscure french cult movie ebb and flow throughout the entire arrangement along with Photonz’s pulsating synths, ultimately setting a hypnotic, provocative tone to the second record. 

Loopdeville opens the last side of the compilation with ‘Humo’ (D1), a pulsating, almost cardiac low-end arrangement of kicks and bass stabs that rumble beneath a palette of warm chords and shamanic, humming vocals for pure mental thrill. Andrea Cichecki’s ‘Tethys’ (D2) finishes Rotate’s seven-part story with a fine exercise on sonic delirium and total loss of equanimity. Between the warm, yet slightly lunatic tone of her modular system melodies and soundscapes, there’s a discerning attitude and sharp poise in her drum arrangements, as if making people dance while lost in time and space would be possible. And it is, they keep rotating.

'The Continuum Hypothesis' by Cleymoore and Andrea Cichecki stood proud as Rotate's first collaborational EP, and despite being the imprint's first attempt on showcasing its roster through talent fusion, it served perfectly as a refined and spontaneous creation where both artists could easily be heard and identified. Rotate's curatorial decisions seem to consistently circle around a small but extremely talented group of young artists who aren't afraid of musical experimentation, with command of very personal visions of futuristic dance music, no matter the style. 

For the second collaborational EP, Rotate hand-picked two young artists that share a strong vision about music, how it should be created and ultimately, experienced: Greece's Anestie Gomez, and Russia's Denis Kaznacheev. Denis has succeeded in keeping us engaged with his imprint Nervmusic since 2009, showing us a steady catalog of releases that share a refined and minimalistic approach to dance music, while Anestie is slowly but fiercely leaving his mark in the music world with a handful of releases and a quiet yet exquisite A&R work for several successful imprints. 

Using each other's sounds to create new compositions, 'The Wieferich Pair' is about them both, and speaks for them both. 'Early Finish' is an addictive piece that utterly succeeds in sucking you right in like a vortex. The marching bassline serves it's purpose of movement in a strong loopy groove intertwined by tight snares, while the pads and poltergeist'y sounds reformat our heads with an inability for space-time tracking. The other side of this affair, 'Late Start', is all about the sleazy jazz dance moves. It's a microcosm of sparkling glitches and vocal snippets, locked in a simple yet flowing bassline and a sea of shuffled hi-hats. A piano kicks in at key points, alongside percussive elements, adding some deepness to the a already rich palette.

This is the world of Anestie and Denis as one. As playful as it is serious, this double tracker takes you to a place where you don't know if you're diving in ,or actually diving out. A sonic rabbit hole of sorts, just like they intended. Hypnotic artwork and design by Max Binski, the current visual curator of Rotate.

To celebrate the 5th anniversary of the agency, Rotate has a hefty 2xLP compilation
coming, featuring its in-house artists as a follow-up to “Rotations I” from 2016. In
the meantime, the imprint prepared a 10" Split-EP teaser, appropriately named
“Mini Rotations I”, featuring Cleymoore and Loopdeville. This release will also
kickstart a series of split 10" records for in-house artists to explore their solo
music identities.

The A-Side 'How Far Would You Go' brings Cleymoore back to Rotate, and while
it may sound very different from what he has been creating over the years, his
extended storytelling techniques, attention to detail and peculiar mind-body
targetting are still identifiable, and slightly matured. Deeply swung basslines,
echoes of detailed, syncopated drum-arrangements, nostalgia-drenched pads
and spellbinding melodies are his ingredients for hypnosis, bending time, space
and musical genres.

Loopdeville’s 'Why So Dark' fills the B-Side with a lighter, more playful tone.
Sparkling modular glitches, synthesizer stabs and vocal snippets fill the space
like a micro-cosmos that is as colorful as it is dreamy, while the roaring bassline
and the tight, but slightly shuffled hi-hats keep everything groovy and strangely
jazzy. Echoing piano loops in the background ensuring the mind's need for
something organic and warm, and further enabling the effectiveness of syncopated
dance moves so familiar to micro-house aficionados.

"Mini Rotations I" is a versatile start for this series of split 10" EPs where artists can
be themselves, loyal to their own sound and their very distinct personalities.

From this idea, Calin Segal from InDialog collective began to develop a new methodology to synthesise images together with sound using a Machine learning process called : Generative Adversarial network.
Starting from multiple sources of image input, the machine composes new images that have secretion characteristics to the seed images. Sound is used as a weight factor to balance the ratio between each picture making each image unique to the track. For the case of this two paintings the original images were elements that reminded him of the “Secret Pit” : rock , bird , tree, insect, sky. The AI merged this elements together on the beats of the secret pit recordings.
