this song feels like finding photos on your mother's phone of the kid your took out near christmas (a family tradition that you only did for him because both you and your younger brother grew out of) to the christmas tree centre the year his mother - your mother's friend - died, and who you never saw again because his grandmother took custody after his father was caught with csam on his computer because his son did something at school that you don't know the exact details of but that when he was questioned about by his teacher he told her that it was fine because "his dad did it to him all the time". mum said that she was almost glad that kelly wasn't alive, as odd as it was, because hugh being the main caregiver led to him getting caught, and if she'd been alive it probably would've ruined her. it's been three years now, i think. in two months i will start college and alfie will start secondary school. i doubt he remembers me.
