We start the weekend off with a bang today, as we welcome the most excellent Under Black Helmet to soundtrack our Friday as he contributes to our Global Mix series.

The Lithtuanian DJ and producer Under Black Helmet is no stranger to our shores, featuring regularly for Dublin based club night and label, Research over the years.

Having moved to London in 2011 and being inspired by the local scene, he started producing techno and has remained faithful to the genre ever since. A protegee of Moerbeck’s expanding Code Is Law platform, the artist’s surge into the shadowy realm of dance music was further supported by Bas Mooy's MORD label, helping him to showcase his productions for the world to see.

He has established himself in today’s techno scene as a force to be reckoned with, playing at monumental parties and clubs around the world, alongside the likes of Dax J, Phase Fatale, Stanislav Tolkachev, Jeff Mills and Rebekah week in week out, while releasing some of our favourite techno records in the process.

We are absolutely delighted to welcome Under Black Helmet to our Global Mix series, as he delivers a meticulous and hypnotic hour of rolling techno.

Alva demands commitment. Her fast paced style turns dancefloors into a high energy workout area. While hammering beats with a ravey feel fill up the room, she stretches the borders between your body and mind. Well thought of build-ups, diverse sound spectrums and fast precise mixing characterize her energetic sets. Her contemporary outtake on techno makes you want her to keep on going.

In 2018, the young, ambitious DJ became a resident at the Berlin-founded collective "ISMUS". ISMUS organized sold out, 36+ hour techno raves at the famous Berlin club Griessmuehle. Besides Griessmuehle, Alva has earned her stripes within the Berlin clubbing scene by playing almost every electronic music institution in the city imaginable. Her sound has echoed through Tresor, About Blank, and as highlight Säule (Berghain/Panorama Bar) in December 2019. Outside of Berlin, her name has appeared on many event posters throughout Germany like FOLD (UK), Das Werk (AT), and Schron (PL).

Apart from the bigger institutions, Alva has a lot of affinity with the underground and the activistic side of the club scene. She has closed the huge illegal warehouse rave of Bipolar and the played the infamous underground club nights Mala Junta in Berlin and Endurance in Copenhagen. Further, she played multiple demonstrations for the perseverance of Berlin’s club culture like ISMUS’ 1st of May rave and the ‘Wem gehört die Stadt’-parade.

Anyone who witnessed Milo Spykers at the decks, knows this experience is as powerful as it is loving. From the moment he started performing in the gritty Antwerp underground he demanded any raver’s attention.
Milo loved music for as long as he can remember, electronic or not. After getting his college degree he is now fully committed to expanding his career as a DJ and producer.
Thanks to the rich Belgian heritage Milo found out about club culture at a young age. 
Going to his first parties as a teenager opened his eyes to a whole new world with which he instantly passionately fell in love. Eventually he would be taking weekly trains to all the different cities scattered around Belgium to witness international house and techno DJs playing. 
Soon after, those trips would lead him to cities away from his home country such as Berlin and Amsterdam. It was in the thunderous halls of Berlin clubs, during endless nights, that Milo made up his mind: this is what he wanted to be a part of.
Milo never received any formal training and is driven by his passion to find out the technicalities of making and collecting music. While in college he had so much free time on his hands that he started to use it to learn production. 
With an urge to know how things function and the internet as his guide he started to make progress. A few years later he would graduate and decided to take a full year off to focus solely on making music and working meticulously towards finding his own voice. One year later he would release his first EP on vinyl on Lenske Records with a second and third EP on the label following soon after. Lenske Records became the perfect home base. At the same time Milo contributed music to different labels including Airod’s Elyxir Records, Fabric Records and a Black Kawa$aki Ninja remix on his Low Life Club label.
Milo draws inspiration from a multitude of electronic sub genres and likes to contrast the old with the new. Throughout his sets you can expect 90s and contemporary techno. Because history matters – but so does the future. Other influences include rave, 90s trance and EBM. All of this connected with high energy and a willingness to surprise the dancefloor. 
Milo has been a resident of the Exhale party series since its inception in Belgium and he is now travelling through Europe to play in some of the continent’s most influential clubs like ://about.blank Warehouse Elementenstraat, BLITZ and Rex Club. During his first festival season he made an appearance at OFFSónar, the 24-hour Exhale X Awakenings event for Amsterdam Dance Event and Extrema Outdoor.
Milo is now looking for new ways to develop his artistic output further so make sure to keep your eyes open to see where he goes next.
