Los Angeles-based duo I Do is the creative meeting of minds between rising singer-songwriter J.Lauryn and international producer Trackdilla. Formed at the end of 2017, I Do have since been locked away in the studio creating the blueprint behind their culturally curious, future-forward sound, which they are bringing to life via their official debut EP scheduled for release later this year on Ultra Music. Today, the duo releases its debut single “Woke Up in Kingston.”

The rhythmic style and unique sound of I Do is nearly impossible to pinpoint—in the best way imaginable. Via a diverse mix of assorted genres and cultural elements, I Do create an inimitable sound that fuses the worlds of Afro-pop, reggae, hip-hop, R&B and pop, as best encapsulated on “Woke Up in Kingston.” A sensual and velvety romp through reggae beats and island vibes, “Woke Up in Kingston” is a dark love story about internal struggle and personal growth told via J.Lauryn’s impassioned lyrics and vocals. “It’s a love story about someone not living their truth and not being their true self in a situation, but then coming to find that self-awareness and realizing in yourself where and who you are,” says the singer.
