On their latest release with Dealt With Records, Swamp People aim to leave an indelible mark on the sonic landscape.

The musical process began with them holed up in their studio, the duo embarked on a musical journey, finding inspiration in herbal remedies to help shape their creative vision.

This release, like them all we guess… is a culmination of thoughts and feelings expressed in musical form via electronic hardware and music making software.
Isn't it magical that transient thought and sound can be captured to be experienced, at any time, for our pleasure, to nod our heads, punch the air and kick our feet on the dancefloor?

Swamp People extend an invitation to navigate the complex pathways of their perception of life, urging us to immerse ourselves in a sonic expedition through space and time. As they materialise their vision into sound, the lines between the intangible and the concrete blur, resulting in a sonic masterpiece that resonates with both deep introspection and the euphoria of the dance floor.

The title track, 'Abstract,' exudes so much energy and vitality that it resembles house music rubbing shoulders with techno — albeit in a more laid-back fashion. It delivers a pulsating, propulsive drive infused with elements of serene euphoria, providing those moments where you can catch your breath or share a tender moment before thrusting your fist into the air once more.

A standout feature of the track is its robust and continuously evolving bassline, reminiscent of 90s Groove Armada. 'Abstract' envelops your senses with pads, echoed keys, and an acid line that subtly taps away at a higher frequency, just barely perceptible. It's a track guaranteed to send shivers down your spine.

Tailored for peak-time dancefloors, 'Abstract' serves as an excellent showcase of Swamp People's upbeat and heavily affected sound.


Driving - Euphoric - House Music


'Aidas' is a uniquely off-kilter piece of house music, emanating an almost ominous atmosphere. The composition is enriched with multi-layered rhythms and smoky organ tones, further enhanced by echoes and reverberations that intricately fill your auditory space with a sense of depth.

The title, 'Aidas,' directly translates to 'Echo' in Lithuanian, a choice that reflects the duo's penchant for this particular effect among others.


'Aidas (Ráfla Remix)' Dealt With artist Ráfla, eager to share more music, enthusiastically took up the opportunity to remix Swamp People's 'Aidas.'

Ráfla streamlined the track while preserving its atmospheric essence. A distinctive bassline runs consistently, punctuating the remix and introducing a rhythmic dimension distinct from the original. Vintage key sounds intermittently interject, and acid segments bubble up from the ether, resulting in a genuinely cool yet bumpin’ house track.

Madhouse Records returns on the 1st June (Traxsource Exclusive) / 14th June with a typically soulladen
house EP from Sebb Junior, entitled ‘Move It’ and featuring three original tracks from the
French Native.

Paris’s Sebb Junior is a relatively new name to most with only a handful of material under his belt via the
likes of San Francisco’s Salted Music headed up my Miguel Migs and Old School Department. Here we
see Sebb takes a leap in his career by joining Kerri Chandler’s long running Madhouse imprint, home to
the likes of Voyeur, Tony Lionni, Behling & Simpson and Nacho Marco.

Title cut move opens things up and sees Junior deliver a jazzy house number built around a rhythmic
New Jersey swing, fluttering Rhodes lines and dubby vocal murmurs making it a perfect fit for the
Madhouse catalogue.

Following is ‘Don’t Stop’ which lays its focus on emotive piano progressions, soaring pad lines and
classically sampled vocal chops. Closing piece ‘Let You Go’ then rounds things off on a deeper tip,
dropping the tempo and bringing smooth synth flourishes, raw drum lines and infectious R&B style
vocal hooks into the limelight.

French producer Matthieu Faubourg is a name you may have heard recently. He was involved in the ‘Fair EP’ on STRCTR Records - a Various Artist compilation that included Dubstriker, Harrison BDP and MonooZ.

Faubourg's debut album on Jazzy Couscous (recently released Kumo No Muko Vol 2 comp) sees him express deeper shades of his personality. Taking almost a year to compose and written in Vienna, the first track produced was “Winter will be long”.  It announces the long and cold winter nights coming over the city and the atmosphere that it creates. The snow, the cold, the fog, the empty streets. The album was created around the central idea of sobriety.  Matthieu's plan was to conjure up a soundtrack that envelops body and soul, like a journey for the mind.  In particular ‘If You Care' that features German vocalist Meggy.

 

The album title is a quote by Leonardo Da Vinci which resonates with Matthieu. It comes complete with an energetic remix from man of the moment Byron The Aquarius, who adds his groove, swing and rhythm, taking the track to the club.

The idea of Tobias Hölzel and Daniel Napolitano to start their own label came to fruition in 2013 and since then, they have been dedicated to releasing raw Chicago and UK House music. Their philosophy is centered around ensuring that quality is present in every aspect of their label, but with a particular emphasis on the music they release. In addition to Rough Recordings, they have established Rough Limited, a sublabel dedicated to vinyl-only releases.
